About the role

Remote is looking for a International Operations Senior Specialist - US and PEO Compliance to support the setup and launch of our expanded US services, while also overseeing local operations, compliance, and entity management. You’ll work closely with an International Operations Manager to build a new service line from the ground up—an exciting opportunity to shape the future of our US offerings from day one.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, early-stage environment and enjoys translating complex regulatory frameworks into scalable, streamlined processes.

Our mission is to make it simple for businesses to manage their people and operations across borders. As part of that mission, this role plays a key part in enabling US-based companies to grow compliantly with confidence.

You’ll join a purpose-driven team with a global mindset, where autonomy, impact, and growth go hand-in-hand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Licensing, Compliance & Entity Maintenance
    • Oversee ongoing regulatory and compliance operations across U.S. states, including business registrations, corporate filings, and reporting obligations.
    • Ensure alignment with state-specific labor and employment regulations, coordinating updates with legal, payroll, and operational teams.
    • Manage the lifecycle of legal entities, supporting governance tasks, renewals, and administrative maintenance in partnership with internal stakeholders and external advisors.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Work closely with Legal, Tax, Payroll, Benefits, and Ops teams to ensure compliance across all jurisdictions.
    • Partner with local legal advisors and external providers to implement legal documents and ensure regulatory readiness.
  • Compliance Documentation, Reporting & Risk Management
    • Maintain centralized records of compliance activities, filings, and regulatory correspondence.
    • Create internal documentation, checklists, and guides to support consistency and knowledge sharing.
    • Identify and address compliance risks, lead audit responses, and provide regular status updates to stakeholders.
  • Process Optimization & Tooling
    • Optimize workflows for compliance tracking, documentation management, and project execution.
    • Contribute to the development and refinement of internal tools, automation, and operational infrastructure to support scalable compliance.
  • Project Ownership & Strategic Execution
    • Lead projects related to regulatory setup and operational expansion across U.S. states and global jurisdictions.
    • Manage competing priorities across projects with autonomy, ensuring alignment with business goals, timelines, and risks.

Requirements

  • Experience & Background
    • Experience in compliance, legal, or regulatory roles—ideally within a Payroll or PEO company—managing U.S. state-level licensing, registrations, and ongoing compliance obligations.
    • Experience supporting entity setup and maintenance, including licensing, corporate governance, and operational continuity across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Regulatory Knowledge
    • Strong understanding of U.S. state regulations, particularly in compliance, regulatory reporting requirements, and entity management.
    • Direct experience with PEO-specific compliance, including navigating licensing rules, filing deadlines, and multi-state obligations.
    • Proven track record managing audits or regulatory inquiries, ensuring accurate, timely responses to state agencies.
  • Skills & Execution
    • High attention to detail, particularly with legal documentation, license applications, and compliance records.
    • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills, able to manage high volumes of tasks, filings, and strict deadlines.
    • Risk-aware and solutions-oriented, able to identify compliance gaps and implement preventive strategies.
  • Collaboration & Communication
    • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, working effectively with legal, payroll, tax, benefits, and operations teams.
    • Clear, proactive communicator, capable of distilling complex regulatory issues to internal and external stakeholders.
    • Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.
  • Tools & Remote Readiness
    • Proficient in collaboration tools, such as Notion, Slack, and workflow platforms like Kissflow.
    • Comfortable in async, remote-first environments, with experience working autonomously in fast-paced, high-growth teams.

The base salary range may be subject to change.

At Remote, we foster internal mobility as a key element of our culture of employee growth and development, supported by a compensation philosophy that guarantees pay equity and fairness.
