This is an exciting opportunity to join Remote as a Senior Onboarding Operations Specialist, Germany, on our Onboarding Operations team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in ensuring seamless and compliant employee onboardings specifically for the German market. You'll leverage your deep expertise in German employment regulations to navigate complex scenarios and deliver exceptional results.

You will act as a subject matter expert for German onboardings, driving processes to completion in accordance with country-specific Service Level Agreements (SLAs). This role demands a thorough understanding of German employment entity models, including Employer of Record (EOR) structures, and the ability to compliantly onboard individuals into these models. You will be responsible for preparing and processing detailed, country-specific documentation, ensuring strict adherence to German employment law and entity requirements.

A key aspect of this role involves a close partnership with Legal and Compliance stakeholders to resolve complex cases and achieve positive outcomes for German onboardings. Your strong understanding of German employment agreement language and provisions will be crucial in this collaboration. You will also work in conjunction with our customer-facing teams, providing expert guidance on how to accurately complete specific German paperwork to support hiring in the region. While working with a focused portfolio of onboardings, you will continuously identify and implement process improvements in partnership with our Legal and International Operations teams, contributing to the advancement of our capabilities in the German market.

What you bring

  • Advanced career experience in People Operations, HR Operations, or Legal Operations, directly in the German market.
  • Exceptional understanding of German employment agreement language and provisions.
  • In-depth knowledge of German entity models, labor regulations, and HR best practices.
  • Proven experience onboarding individuals compliantly into various employment entity models in Germany - with bonus points for doing so in the Employer of Record space.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing and processing detailed, country-specific documentation for Germany.
  • Experience partnering with legal and compliance stakeholders to resolve complex German employment cases.
  • Experience advising on country-specific paperwork completion to support hiring in Germany.
  • Team player with the ability to work independently and take ownership.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with experience managing workflows that involve multiple departments.
  • Calm and composed under pressure, comfortable liaising with both internal and external stakeholders in alignment with Remote's values.
  • Solutions-oriented, demonstrating high situational awareness and proactive case management.
  • Strong sense of ownership, comfortable working and problem-solving independently.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and German
  • Bonus points if you have experience working remotely.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead and execute employee onboardings with a specialized focus on the German market, ensuring full compliance with local employment laws and Remote's internal processes.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of employment entity models in Germany, including Employer of Record (EOR) structures, and successfully onboard individuals compliantly into these models.
  • Prepare, process, and update detailed, country-specific documentation for German onboardings, in strict accordance with German employment entity models and legal requirements.
  • Partner effectively with Legal and Compliance stakeholders to achieve positive results for complex cases and ensure compliant onboarding practices in Germany.
  • Leverage a strong understanding of employment agreement language and provisions in Germany to advise on and review relevant documentation.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including Customer Care and/or customer teams, to advise customers on how to accurately complete specific German paperwork to support hiring in these regions.
  • Drive German onboardings to completion within established country-specific SLAs.
  • Manage confidential employee data with the utmost discretion and accuracy, safeguarding personally identifiable information while effectively communicating onboarding progress and challenges.
  • Develop clear, authentic, and responsive communications with employees being onboarded in Germany, building trust and confidence in Remote's services.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on German-specific onboarding information, ensuring it is current, well-documented, and easily accessible.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and process improvements specifically within German onboarding workflows.
  • Contribute to product development and brainstorming sessions, bringing a German market perspective to enhance the Remote platform.
  • Provide robust training support to new onboarding operations specialists, sharing expertise in German onboarding practices.
  • Manage internal onboarding operations communication channels, providing timely and accurate answers to German onboarding-related questions.
  • Assist with ad hoc projects related to documentation, learning and development, and training as directed by your manager.

At first glance our salary bands seem quite wide - here is some context. At Remote we have international operations and a globally distributed workforce.  We use geo ranges to consider geographic pay differentials as part of our global compensation strategy to remain competitive in various markets while we hiring globally.

The base salary range for this full-time position is $32,950 USD to $74,100 USD. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level and location, and our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay for the successful candidate in this role is dependent upon many factors such as location, transferable or job-related skills, work experience, relevant training, business needs, and market demands. The base salary range may be subject to change.
