About the role:

This is an exciting time to join Remote and make a personal difference in the global payroll space as a Manager, Global Payroll Implementation, joining our Payroll Implementation team.

As a dynamic and detail-oriented leader, you’ll oversee a team of Global Payroll Leads responsible for the successful onboarding and implementation of new client payrolls across multiple countries. You’ll provide strategic direction, coaching, and operational oversight to ensure payroll implementations are accurate, compliant, and delivered on time — all while driving consistency, efficiency, and innovation in our processes.

You will report to the Senior Director, Payroll Implementation and play a key role in connecting the dots between Sales, Payroll Operations, Product, and Client Experience to ensure seamless transitions from implementation to business-as-usual.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and mentor the Global Payroll Implementation team — fostering a culture of trust, accountability, and excellence.
  • Support the professional growth of team members, identifying development opportunities and promoting collaboration across regions.
  • Act as a strategic escalation point for complex implementation issues and ensure timely, effective resolution.

Implementation Oversight

  • Own the delivery of global payroll implementation projects, ensuring timelines, quality, and compliance standards are consistently met.
  • Monitor progress against KPIs and SLAs, identifying risks early and implementing corrective actions.
  • Support team leads and specialists with issue resolution, prioritisation, and workload balancing across multiple projects.
  • Ensure smooth transitions between Sales handover, Implementation, and Payroll Operations phases.

Process Excellence & Continuous Improvement

  • Standardise and continuously improve global payroll implementation processes, tools, and documentation.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (Product, Payroll Ops, Legal, Customer Success) to enhance workflows, automation, and system integrations.
  • Lead or support user acceptance testing (UAT), process validations, and change management initiatives for platform or procedural updates.
  • Ensure that implementation documentation, SOPs, and audit trails are accurate, complete, and easily accessible to operational teams.

Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for key internal stakeholders, ensuring visibility into implementation progress, risks, and performance metrics.
  • Collaborate closely with Sales and Customer Success to align implementation readiness and set realistic client expectations.
  • Represent the implementation function in internal initiatives, contributing insights to shape global payroll strategy and operational excellence.

About the ideal candidate:

  • Extensive experience managing global or regional payroll implementations in a complex, high-growth environment.
  • Deep understanding of end-to-end payroll processes, from onboarding to compliance handover.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and empower high-performing teams — you value autonomy and avoid micromanagement.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills; capable of balancing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities — able to explain technical or regulatory topics clearly and confidently.
  • Experience driving process improvement and working with payroll systems (e.g., SAP, Workday, or similar) and tools like Excel or Google Sheets.
  • Analytical and solutions-focused mindset — you enjoy solving operational challenges and making systems better.
  • Comfortable working asynchronously in a distributed, fast-paced environment.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken); additional languages are a plus.
  • Prior experience working remotely is not required but considered an advantage.

  2. Interview with future manager
