Payroll Lead - Italy
About Remote
With Innovation as one of the core values, we have built Automation and AI capabilities into the requirements for every role.
We encourage every member of the Remote team to bring their talents, experiences and culture to the table to help us build the best-in-class HR platform.
What this job can offer you
- We’re looking for a GP Lead to own and deliver Italy payroll implementations for Remote customers—taking complex, real-world setups and turning them into clean data, robust configurations, and reliable go-lives.
- This is not a traditional “run payroll end-to-end” role. Your impact is in making sure customers start on the right foundation: the right structure, the right rules, the right migrations, and the right expectations.
- You’ll lead onboarding projects, run deep due diligence (beyond checklists), and work cross-functionally with Operations, Product, and Engineering to continuously improve how implementations are delivered at scale.
What you bring
- Proven, hands-on experience implementing Zucchetti Paghe Infinity (mandatory): configuration, data imports/migrations, setup validation, go-live support.
- Italy payroll experience, ideally in a consultancy/payroll bureau, outsourcer, or in-house payroll function with exposure to implementations/subsidiary transitions.
- Strong understanding of payroll foundations that affect implementation success (e.g., progressivi, CU logic, Uniemens structure, year-to-date handling, etc.)—even if you’re not running monthly payroll as your primary job.
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders, priorities, and timelines in a remote environment.
- Clear, structured communication: you can translate complexity into actionable steps for customers and internal teams.
- Writes and speaks fluent English and Italian
- It's not required to have experience working remotely, but considered a plus
- Experience with mid-year transitions, parallel payroll, and complex onboarding scenarios.
- Strong working knowledge of high-volume CCNLs (e.g., Commerce, Metalmeccanico).
- Experience in tech or high-growth environments; comfort collaborating with Product/Engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end Italy payroll implementations: discovery → requirements → configuration → data migration → testing → go-live.
- Conduct structured due diligence on customer payroll setups and constraints (CCNL rules, allowances, accruals, TFR, funds, social security/tax impacts, etc.).
- Manage data migration and validation, including mapping, consistency checks, and loading historical/progressive values when required.
- Plan and execute testing cycles (including parallel runs when needed) and ensure reconciliation to agreed acceptance criteria.
- Act as the customer’s trusted point of contact during implementation—communicating complex topics clearly and pragmatically.
- Partner with internal teams to improve templates, tooling, documentation, and automation—reducing repetitive work and increasing quality.
