Renaissance is seeking an Account Executive II with a strong background in prospecting, new business development, and consultative solution selling. In this role, you'll drive revenue growth by identifying new customers, expanding opportunities within existing accounts, and introducing Renaissance's Assessment and Analytics solutions to districts with untapped potential.

The ideal candidate brings a proactive, hunter-oriented approach to sales, combined with the ability to develop long-term customer relationships and collaborate across teams. You'll leverage market insights, strategic account planning, and a deep understanding of customer needs to identify opportunities, build a strong pipeline, and deliver solutions that support student success.

This position requires regular travel for customer engagements, conferences, and other revenue-generating activities, ideally within the assigned territory of northern and central California.

In this role as Account Executive II, you will be responsible for:

  • Prospecting & New Business Development: Proactively identify, pursue, and qualify new sales opportunities through outbound prospecting, strategic outreach, networking, and targeted campaigns. Build and maintain a healthy pipeline of qualified opportunities.
  • Account Acquisition & Expansion: Identify growth opportunities within new and existing customer accounts, particularly those with significant untapped potential. Develop strategies to introduce additional Renaissance solutions and expand our presence within school districts.
  • Consultative Solution Selling: Lead discovery conversations to understand district challenges, priorities, and strategic objectives. Position Renaissance's Assessment and Analytics solutions to address customer needs and deliver measurable value.
  • Pipeline & Opportunity Management: Manage opportunities throughout the sales cycle, engage multiple decision-makers, navigate complex district purchasing processes, and maintain accurate pipeline activity and forecasts.
  • Closing Business: Drive opportunities from initial engagement through negotiation and close. Develop compelling presentations, overcome objections, and build consensus among key stakeholders to achieve revenue goals.
  • K-12 Education Expertise: Apply knowledge of K–12 education, district operations, funding, purchasing processes, and market trends to identify opportunities and deliver relevant solutions.
  • Strategic Territory & Account Planning: Develop and execute territory plans that prioritize high-potential accounts, identify whitespace opportunities, and leverage competitive intelligence, funding insights, and customer needs to drive revenue growth.
  • Relationship Development & Collaboration: Build trusted relationships with district leaders and decision-makers while partnering with Account Managers and internal teams to support customer success, identify expansion opportunities, and maximize account potential.

Qualifications

For this role as Account Executive II, you should have:

  • 5+ years of experience in educational software sales
  • Demonstrated success in new business development, outbound prospecting, and generating qualified sales opportunities
  • Experience managing complex sales cycles, including discovery, stakeholder engagement, solution presentations, negotiation, and closing
  • Strong consultative and solution-selling skills, with the ability to uncover customer needs and position solutions effectively
  • Experience developing strategic territory or account plans to achieve revenue goals
  • Proficiency with CRM platforms and sales technology (e.g., Salesforce)
  • Proficiency with collaboration tools (e.g., Outlook, Microsoft Teams)
  • Familiarity with relevant legislation and policies within the assigned territory

Bonus Points:

Race & Ethnicity Definitions

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Form CC-305

OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 07/31/2029

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
