Recruiting Team Manager

At Render we are building a powerful, easy-to-use cloud platform to host anything online: from simple static sites to complex applications with dozens of microservices. Render offers the flexibility of traditional cloud providers without their complexity and maintenance headaches so developers and businesses can focus on building products instead of managing servers.

We're a talented and diverse group solving a problem faced by every development team. We iterate quickly while placing the utmost importance on user experience, quality, and reliability. We push ourselves to do better every day. Our organic, product-led growth has already attracted over a million developers. With our rapidly increasing revenue, we're on to something big.

Applying to Render:

We're looking for candidates with high integrity, low ego, and an insatiable drive to learn. We use reasoned discussion and constant feedback to improve as individuals and as a company. We cultivate mutual trust and respect, empowering us to debate ideas effectively and create the best outcomes for our customers and our team.

We especially encourage members of underrepresented groups in the tech community to apply and understand that not all successful candidates will meet each requirement listed.

Our interview process is unique to each role, and we value the candidate experience just as much as our customer experience. We hope your conversations with us reflect a thoughtful process that is illuminative, enjoyable, and respectful of your time.

About the Role:

As Render's Recruiting Team Manager, you will drive enormous impact by building and supporting the engine that hires strong, diverse and committed talent. Initially managing a recruiting team of three, you'll dig into details with the team, support their success and development, and influence change. Hiring at Render is a shared responsibility, and you'll be empowered to bring the team together and provide the leadership and expertise to meet our ambitious goals.

There's a lot that makes Render's approach to hiring special. We're building a tool beloved by engineers, and engineering hiring remains our top priority. We've built processes and strategies that are in line with our values, particularly those of "Raise the Quality Bar", "Reason Clearly, Execute Quickly" and "Take the Long View". We believe there's an opportunity to embrace and evolve our hiring philosophy in a way that allows us to meet ambitious growth goals and sets Render's hiring apart in the tech community. We're looking for the right leader to help us do it!

What you'll do:

  • Manage Render's recruiting team. Develop trust quickly to act as an effective coach and partner to the current team members.
  • Learn from historical successes and challenges in Render's hiring. Understand and respect what makes Render's hiring approach special while being confident to suggest and influence changes when needed.
  • In partnership with the team, prioritize and execute the programmatic elements needed to build a scalable recruiting engine, including but not limited to: employer brand, internal processes, DE&I initiatives, sourcing, and closing strategies, and sound reliance on metrics.
  • We're a startup, so you may directly recruit for one role at a time, and you should expect to regularly roll up your sleeves and drive project work forward.
  • Build strong relationships with hiring partners across the organization
  • Continuously consider and experiment with ways to make Render a respected leader in the tech hiring space
  • Partner with our VP of People to maintain hiring as a top priority company-wide, instilling a strong sense of ownership and engagement towards recruiting in all Renders
  • Propose and execute future Recruiting Team growth, based on company hiring goals. Render is willing to invest in the team as needed to attract, vet, and close the talent needed, but we want to be thoughtful and deliberate with this hiring (as we are with all our hiring!)

What we're looking for:

  • Deep experience (8+ years) in recruiting, with an emphasis on technical roles and talent
  • Strong leadership abilities, with 3+ years of experience managing teams of strong, senior recruiters
  • Experience in a high-growth tech startup
  • Passion for partnering with internal stakeholders to create the highest quality recruiting process end-to-end
  • While we don't expect deep experience in every one of these areas, enough understanding to prioritize and support work on employer brand, recruiting tools and processes, DE&I initiatives, metrics tracking, and sourcing and closing strategies.
  • An empathetic and involved leader, excited to build trust and close partnership with our growing recruiting team to set each member up for success
  • A data-driven mindset with the ability to analyze recruitment metrics and make data-backed decisions; considering the quality of hires along with volume and speed
  • Someone very comfortable navigating startup ambiguity and adapting to evolving business needs
  • Excellent communication, and the ability to build relationships and influence at all levels of the organization
  • We're looking for someone to work out of our San Francisco office (in SOMA) 2 to 3 days per week

Benefits we offer at Render:

  • Our openings span more than one career level. The starting salary for this role is between $200,000 and $235,000 USD. The provided salary depends on many factors, such as work experience and transferable skills, business needs and impact, and market demands.
  • The opportunity is eligible for equity with early exercise options and extended exercise windows.
  • 4 weeks of paid vacation, available from day one.
  • 14 weeks of fully paid parental leave for all parents to bond with a newly born, adopted, or fostered child. We will also work with you to create a supportive plan of return.
  • Long-term disability, life insurance, and 401K plans.
  • 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision coverage for you and a dependent. FSAs are available as well.
  • Monthly lifestyle stipend for wellness, mental health, therapy, hobbies, etc.
  • Monthly cell phone and internet subsidy.
  • Commuter benefits for Renders in the Bay Area and home office stipends for remote Renders.
  • Continuous learning benefits & related support.

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

A "recently separated veteran" means any veteran during the three-year period beginning on the date of such veteran's discharge or release from active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval, or air service.

Form CC-305

OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
