About the Team: Data is integral to our rapidly expanding business and has been woven into our company’s DNA since its inception. As the Director of Business Intelligence, you will lead the team that empowers stakeholders with critical data insights and drives data-informed decisions across the organization. This role involves overseeing the development and maintenance of our core data model, establishing performance metrics, delivering robust reporting solutions, and advancing our self-service analytics capabilities. As a senior leader within Product organization, the Business Intelligence team collaborates closely with Engineering, Marketing, Inventory, Operations and Finance teams to support strategic goals and accelerate growth through data.

About the Role: We seek an experienced and strategic Director of Business Intelligence to elevate our data analytics and reporting functions. In this role, you will work closely with senior leadership and department heads to shape and execute a forward-looking BI strategy that aligns with business priorities. You will drive the evolution of our core data infrastructure, self-service reporting ecosystem (currently utilizing Looker), and our analytical approach, ensuring the business has timely, actionable insights to make data-driven decisions. You’ll collaborate closely with data science to integrate predictive analytics and insights into BI tools, supporting a data culture combining self-service autonomy with standardized, trustworthy reporting sources. As a seasoned leader, you will guide a team of analysts, foster a high-performance, collaborative culture, and play a pivotal role in determining the future of data-driven decision-making across the company.

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop and Execute BI Strategy: Lead the formulation of a comprehensive business intelligence strategy that aligns with company objectives, balancing self-service reporting capabilities with core reporting infrastructure.
  • Lead Data Infrastructure and Reporting Evolution: Oversee the development of scalable data pipelines and reusable datasets to support reporting and advanced analytics. Drive improvements in our BI tools and systems.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner with senior leaders in Product, Engineering, Operations, and Marketing to ensure data collection and analysis are optimized to support key business initiatives.
  • Advanced predictive and Prescriptive Analytics: Integrate predictive models from data science into BI reporting and dashboards, turning complex data into actionable insights for business teams.
  • Drive KPI and OKR Frameworks: Define and monitor Objectives, key Results (OKRs), and other Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure success, diagnose progress, and inform executive decision-making.
  • Lead and Mentor the BI Team: Build and mentor a high-performing team of analysts, fostering development, accountability, and a data-driven culture.
  • Manage BI Roadmap and Initiatives: Prioritize and manage the BI roadmap, collaborating with organizational stakeholders to ensure alignment with strategic priorities and timelines.

About You:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Technology, Business, or a related field; advanced degrees or specializations are a plus.
  • 8+ years in business intelligence, data analytics, or a related field, with at least 3+ years in a leadership or senior management role.
  • Experienced outside of just data analytics in disciplines such as product, marketing, finance, or operations making practical and business decisions influenced by analysis
  • Experienced with pricing strategies and modeling
  • Advanced SQL skills and a strong grasp of relational databases, with extensive experience using BI platforms such as Looker or Tableau.
  • Hands-on experience with data transformation tools such as dbt, and familiarity with data modeling techniques, including dimensional modeling.
  • Solid eCommerce and operational data understanding, with experience translating complex analyses into actionable business recommendations.
  • Exceptional communicator able to engage, influence, and build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • A deep passion for data, a keen analytical mindset, and a relentless curiosity to solve complex business problems with data.

The anticipated base salary for this position is $185,000-$230,000. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held. This position is also eligible for equity compensation.
