Galway Office
Rent The Runway established its European Technology Hub in Galway in April 2019. Based in the historic Claddagh area of the city, the growing team in Galway tackles core technology challenges and influences the next generation of services critical to Rent The Runway’s success and continued growth.
The Galway office is Rent the Runway's first international office outside the US, enabling the company to significantly expand its software engineering, product development, machine learning engineering, and data science footprint. Rent The Runway’s Galway-based employees have the opportunity to grow their careers across several roles and career paths in Technology.

About the Role:
Machine Learning Engineers at Rent the Runway create data products that have tangible effects on our customer experience and internal operations. You will be responsible for managing projects from start to finish. This includes identifying the problems to address, transforming data from our extensive ecosystem into actionable insights, and ultimately developing and integrating algorithms into our network of services. You will collaborate closely with our product and software engineering teams throughout this process.
You will have the opportunity to impact all parts of our business: determining what inventory assortment to buy, optimizing the lifespan of that inventory, establishing the right network of warehouses and transportation methods to best serve our customers, personalizing the user experience, optimizing user acquisition & retention, investigating how we can improve customer service by serving the right information at the right time, optimally pricing clothing rentals and sales, forecasting demand and more.
What You’ll Do:
- Design, build, and maintain robust and scalable MLOps pipelines using Google Cloud Platform solutions such as Vertex AI, BigQuery and DataFlow.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, engineering, and Data Scientists to deliver ML capabilities that delight customers and internal users.
- Implement and automate CI/CD processes for model training, evaluation, and deployment in production environments.
- Develop and maintain monitoring and alerting systems to track model performance, system health, and business KPIs.
- Contribute to developing best practices for MLOps within the team and across the organisation.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in machine learning, MLOps, and cloud technologies, and share your knowledge with the team.
About You:
- 5+ years experience in an ML and/or MLOps-related role, with a strong focus on building, deploying, and maintaining robust machine learning capabilities in production environments.
- Experience with at least one cloud platform, such as Google Cloud Platform or AWS.
- Proficiency in programming with Python or any other primary language such as Java.
- Experience with an enterprise data warehouse such as Snowflake or BigQuery.
- Deep understanding of machine learning concepts and algorithms such as Neural Networks.
- Experience with working with at least one ML framework such as Tensorflow or PyTorch.
- Proficiency in data analysis using SQL and Pandas or any related data analytics library.
- Experience in building CI/CD pipelines for deploying machine learning models.
- Experience with Terraform or similar infrastructure-as-code tools is a plus.
- Good understanding of building monitoring and alerting systems.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Passion for building and scaling machine learning solutions that drive business impact.
Bonus Points:
- Experience with retail or eCommerce platforms.
- Experience in building recommendation systems for end-user personalisation capabilities.
