Senior Director, Growth
About Us:
Rent the Runway (RTR) is transforming the way we get dressed by pioneering the world’s first Closet in the Cloud. Founded in 2009, RTR has disrupted the $2.4 trillion fashion industry by inspiring women with a more joyful, sustainable and financially-savvy way to feel their best every day. As the ultimate destination for circular fashion, the brand now offers infinite points of access to its shared closet via a fully customizable subscription to fashion, one-time rental or ownership. RTR offers designer apparel and accessories from hundreds of brand partners and has built in-house proprietary technology and a one-of-a-kind reverse logistics operation. Under CEO and Co-Founder Jennifer Hyman’s leadership, RTR has been named to CNBC’s “Disruptor 50” five times in ten years, and has been placed on Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies list multiple times, while Hyman herself has been named to the “TIME 100” most influential people in the world and as one of People magazine’s “Women Changing the World.”
About the Job:
As the Senior Director of Growth, you will lead the strategy and execution of initiatives, tools, and customer-facing products that fuel customer and revenue growth. You will lead a product squad (product managers, engineers, designers, data analytics, etc.) to define and execute a product growth roadmap that spans the entire customer funnel across desktop, mobile web, and app – from top-of-funnel acquisition, through conversion, referrals, and lifecycle marketing. You will also manage a high-performing team responsible for paid marketing and campaign performance to reach new qualified audiences, and will work closely with the Executive Team, stakeholders across the organization, and agency partners to align growth initiatives with broader business efforts.
A successful candidate is a customer-obsessed self-starter with curiosity, a growth mindset, and an interest or background in e-commerce and direct-to-consumer sales. Someone who derives energy from working at the intersection of business, technology, and the user experience to deliver supercharged customer and revenue growth.
What You’ll Do:
- Own the growth strategy focused on subscriber acquisition. Set ambitious monthly and quarterly growth goals aligned with company objectives with regular updates to the Executive Team.
- Manage and inspire a high-performing team empowered to drive growth through a customer-obsessed, metrics-driven, and collaborative culture.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive growth product roadmap by serving as the GM of a product squad focused on growth.
- Oversee paid marketing, including marketing operations, channel management, spend allocation, campaign analytics and optimization, affiliate program management, and User Generated Content (UGC). Coordinate creative development with our in-house production team and outside agency support.
- Use data-driven insights to optimize every stage of the acquisition funnel. Lead rapid A/B testing to drive improvement in key metrics like impressions, subscriber sign-ups, and overall conversion performance.
- Enhance internal tooling and platforms required to support growth efforts, including the marketing technology stack or reporting dashboards to increase operational efficiency and program scalability.
- Bring a collaborative approach to user acquisition by working across Brand, Merchandising, Business Development, Finance, and other teams to drive growth initiatives.
About You:
- 8+ years leading growth or marketing organizations, ideally with direct experience in e-commerce or consumer tech (fashion is a plus!) and product-led growth environments.
- Track record of driving standout customer or revenue growth in close partnership with Product and Marketing teams with measurable business impact.
- Proven ability to influence Product and Data partners—shaping roadmaps, framing sharp hypotheses, and driving experimentation.
- Experience managing paid marketing budgets and campaigns to reach new qualified audiences.
- Strong P&L instincts, data fluency, and a knack for solving complex problems with clarity.
- Exceptional communicator and team leader with a proven ability to align and inspire stakeholders across functions and levels.
- Passion for improving the customer experience across the full marketing lifecycle.
