About the Job:

This central role directly supports CEO Jenn Hyman, a recognized leader in business and innovation. Jennifer Hyman led RTR to be the only company ever to IPO with an all-female CEO, CFO and COO, and was named to the TIME 100 list of the world's most influential people. The Chief of Staff serves as the singular liaison with the CEO, acting as both a strategic partner and operational pivot point, ensuring the CEO's focus remains on the most critical priorities. 

You will understand the macro picture of RTR’s business, ensuring alignment across the organization behind RTR’s critical priorities and their flawless execution. You will lead the storytelling around RTR’s business to internal and external audiences - from company town halls to board materials to external presentations. You will partner with our CEO to identify, prioritize, scope and execute on strategically significant opportunities - from M&A to Strategic Partnerships to new product initiatives. You will manage our CEO’s brand and communications strategy as a strategic asset of Rent the Runway, including managing our Deputy Chief of Staff for tactical time management.

This is a full-time role based in our Brooklyn headquarters. Rent the Runway is currently operating on an office-centric work model, where our corporate teams are working from the office 4 days per week, and flexibly on Fridays. This role may require travel as needed to meet strategic partners, investors, conferences, etc. as needed.

 

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate Executive Operating Model: Steward and manage the "rhythm of the business" for the company's leadership. This includes: stewarding the quarterly and semi-quarterly planning process, managing quarterly earnings announcement processes, tracking company-level OKRs, and setting the agenda and cadence for executive and all-hands meetings. 
  • Own High-Stakes Communications & Materials: Lead the creation, research, and refinement of materials for high-stakes audiences, including Company Town Halls, Board of Directors meetings, investor communications, and external C-level conversations.
  • Serve as a Strategic & Operational Partner to the CEO: Identify, evaluate and execute cross-functional, special initiatives, both internal (high-profile company priorities) and external (M&A, strategic investments, and strategic partnership opportunities), acting as an extension of the CEO when necessary.
  • Administrative Support for the CEO: Meticulously manage all aspects of our CEO’s business calendar, schedule, travel, and Board of Directors meeting scheduling and coordination, including managing our Deputy Chief of Staff for support.

 

About You:

  • Education: MBA Preferred
  • Experience: 7-10 years of work experience, ideally a blend of:
    • An analytical and strategy-focused role, ideally from a from a top-tier management consulting firm, investment bank, or similar environment
    • An operating role working with executive level stakeholders to drive significant impact across a business
  • Communication: Impeccable written and verbal communication and presentation abilities. You must be able to interact with individuals at all levels, including senior executives and board members, handling sensitive situations with poise and discretion. Corporate comms experience a plus.
  • Strategic Acumen: You have the ability to identify, analyze and make recommendations regarding overall company strategy, strategic opportunities, etc.
  • Operator’s Mindset: A natural multitasker with a nimble business mind. You are focused on developing creative solutions and can juggle multiple competing tasks and demands without losing attention to detail.
  • Financial Analysis: Strong financial analysis skillset, able to assess, analyze and model financial outcomes of strategic projects, opportunities, etc.
  • Scoping Work: Skilled at tackling ambiguous problems and defining and executing strategies that clarify the problem statement, drive alignment, and deliver quantifiable business impact.
  • High-Velocity Environment: Thrives in a dynamic, fast-moving organization with a high level of autonomy and responsibility.
  • Stakeholder Management: Ability to manage multiple stakeholders with varying priorities and drive creative solutions and commitment to a shared goal.
  • Dual-Focus: A "no task is too small" mindset, combined with the ability to think strategically at a 30,000-foot view.
  • Passion: Experience in or a strong passion for fashion-tech, e-commerce, or the resale economy.

The anticipated base salary for this position is $219,200 to $274,000. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held.
