About the Job:

As Senior Product Manager, Bag, Checkout & Payments, you will own the strategy and execution of the core transactional experiences that turn shopping intent into completed orders across Rent the Runway’s digital storefront. You will lead the evolution of the bag, checkout flows, and payment systems, making it easier for customers to confidently complete purchases and subscriptions while driving conversion, revenue, and customer satisfaction. You’ll partner closely with Engineering, Design, Data, Finance, and Operations to simplify complex shopping and payment experiences, improve reliability, and identify opportunities for innovation. This role combines customer-centered product thinking with strong analytical rigor and technical fluency to deliver seamless, trustworthy, and high-performing shopping experiences by connecting the shopping experience to successful transactions, helping turn customer intent into completed orders and supporting RTR’s broader growth and customer experience goals.

What You’ll Do:

Own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for the bag, checkout, and payments experience across RTR’s shopping journey, spanning rental, subscription, and ownership experiences.

  • Identify and prioritize opportunities to reduce friction, simplify decision-making, and improve conversion from bag through completed order.
  • Partner with Design and Research to create intuitive, cohesive experiences that build customer confidence and make complex checkout decisions feel effortless.
  • Lead the development and optimization of payment experiences, including payment method selection, payment processing, transaction failures, and other critical payment-related workflows.
  • Define success metrics and build a rigorous experimentation roadmap, using A/B testing, funnel analysis, and customer insights to improve conversion, order completion, and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and technical partners to evolve the underlying systems that power checkout and payments, balancing customer experience, reliability, scalability, and technical complexity.
  • Use quantitative and qualitative insights to understand customer behavior, identify root causes of friction, and translate findings into actionable product opportunities.
  • Align cross-functional partners across Engineering, Design, Data, Finance, Operations, and other relevant teams to drive prioritization, manage dependencies, and deliver high-quality products from discovery through launch and iteration.
  • Establish clear product requirements, success criteria, and performance reporting, communicating progress, trade-offs, and outcomes to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Continuously evaluate emerging technologies, industry best practices, and new opportunities to make RTR’s shopping and transaction experiences more seamless, reliable, and effective.

About You:

  • You have 5+ years of product management experience, with a track record of owning and delivering consumer-facing digital products from discovery through launch and ongoing optimization.
  • You have experience building and improving e-commerce, checkout, payments, or other high-volume transactional experiences, and understand how small improvements in these journeys can drive meaningful business impact.
  • You are customer-obsessed and have a strong product sense. You can identify where an experience feels confusing or cumbersome and translate those insights into elegant, intuitive solutions.
  • You are highly analytical and comfortable defining success metrics, analyzing funnels, interpreting experiment results, and using data to prioritize opportunities and measure impact.
  • You are technically fluent and can partner effectively with Engineering to understand system dependencies, payment integrations, technical constraints, and opportunities to improve reliability and scalability.
  • You are a strong cross-functional leader who can build alignment, navigate competing priorities, and influence outcomes without relying on formal authority.
  • You take ownership of ambiguous problems, bring structure to complexity, and have a bias toward action. You know how to balance speed, scope, and quality while maintaining a high bar for execution.
  • You communicate clearly and thoughtfully, translating customer needs, technical complexity, and business trade-offs into compelling product strategies and actionable requirements.
  • You are curious, collaborative, and comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment where you can challenge assumptions, learn quickly, and continuously improve the customer experience.
  • You are excited by Rent the Runway’s mission and motivated by the opportunity to make shopping for and accessing designer fashion more joyful, convenient, and sustainable
