
Nursery Technician II: Plant Health

RES is seeking a skilled and dedicated Nursery Technician II to join our team and lead plant health. This position will report to our Brodhead, WI office.
The primary responsibility of this role will be to maintain health of plant stock. The ideal candidate will have a passion for horticulture, excellent organizational skills, and a strong work ethic.
Key duties involve monitoring plant health, maintaining the irrigation systems, implementing IPM (Integrated Pest Management), training teams, maintaining records, and coordinating the moving, trimming and chemical maintenance of our containerized plants. Planning and good supervisory skills are important to this role, as this role needs to both work autonomously and also work well as part of a team.
Responsibilities
- Inventory Management: Assist in managing plant inventory. Maintain accurate records of all orders using excel and internal data base systems
- Oversee irrigation system and manage watering schedules
- Product Handling: Handle plants and materials with care, ensuring the proper treatment of plants during order fulfillment.
- Oversee Plant Health and incorporate IPM (Integrated Pest Management)
- Quality Control: Inspect plants for pests, disease, or damage: Maintain plants through trimming and proper fertility management
- Maintaining Cleanliness: Keep the work area clean, organized, and safe. Ensure all tools and equipment are maintained and stored properly.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a horticultural or nursery setting is preferred,
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift and move plants, supplies, and equipment (up to [insert weight]).
- Comfortable working in various weather conditions, both indoors and outdoors.
- Basic knowledge of plant care and common species is desirable.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Supervisory experience
- Spanish speaking is a bonus
- Willing to obtain WI pesticide applicator license.
- Valid drivers license
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, bend, and lift for extended periods.
- Able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Must be comfortable working with plants, soil, and natural elements.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. pounds as needed.
- Operate forklift and other similar types of machinery and hand tools
Work Environment:
- The role will require working in both indoor and outdoor nursery environments.
- Exposure to various weather conditions, depending on the season.
- Regular use of equipment such as carts, plant containers, and packaging materials.
