Senior Technical Advisor, Lead Poisoning Prevention

Resolve to Save Lives' (RTSL) Cardiovascular Health unit works with partners to eliminate artificial trans fat from the global food supply, increase global control of high blood pressure to 50%, reduce the global intake of salt by 30% and has recently begun to work in the area of lead poisoning elimination.
Position Summary
The Senior Technical Advisor (STA), Lead Poisoning Prevention will strategically develop, manage and advise on RTSL's efforts on lead. This position reports to the Director of Healthy Foods and Environment and will work with the Director and RTSL leadership to shape the program on lead poisoning prevention at RTSL. The primary focus of the role will be to spearhead a collaboration with the World Health Organization on a technical package for lead elimination in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Furthermore, they will provide light-touch support to lead elimination programs in Nigeria (and other countries as funding becomes available), collaborating with technical consultants and RTSL country teams to guide the work.
Length of Engagement: This is a two-year fixed-term position with the possibility of extension.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement RTSL's lead poisoning elimination strategy, in collaboration with the Director, Healthy Foods and Environment
- Serve as the key technical advisor for RTSL's work on lead poisoning elimination
- Lead the development of a technical package on lead poisoning prevention in collaboration with the WHO, overseeing the partnership. This will include
- Developing and/or managing consultants to develop the technical package
- Designing and leading a process of expert and country consultations to determine the content/structure of the package
- Collaborating with RTSL and WHO communications around the launch and roll-out of the package
- Serve as the key contact person for RTSL with global partners working on lead poisoning elimination
- Develop and/or manage the development of toolkits, presentations, scientific articles and other technical and communications materials regarding lead poisoning elimination
- Provide virtual and on-site technical support to the country teams' managers and country-level collaborators, working closely with them as they develop and implement country strategies
- Oversee the work of consultants and others providing expert input into RTSL lead poisoning elimination activities and related activities
- In collaboration with in-country managers (where relevant), lead the project management of RTSL's lead poisoning elimination work, including:
- Review regular progress reports from implementing partners and generate summaries and recommendations for the Director, Healthy Foods and Environment
- Liaise with, monitor, track progress and report on project implementation by consultants and partners
- Represent the team at international conferences and meetings and with implementing partners
Required Qualifications
Education
- Master's degree in public health, environmental science, public policy or international development
Experience
- 10+ years of relevant global health, environmental science or development experience
- At least five years working in environmental health (with at least one of those years working on lead-related work). Experience working in low- and middle-income countries preferred
- Experience developing technical materials
- Experience working with national governments

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for applicants based in the US is $125,000 to $140,000 annually. The exact offer will be determined by various factors, such as the candidate's skills and experience relative to the requirements of the role. For applicants based outside the US, salaries are set according to national labor rates for the international NGO sector.
