Lead DevOps Engineer

We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Lead DevOps Engineer to join our growing team and help us scale our infrastructure, streamline our processes, and shape the future of our technology.

In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of planning, designing, and operating platforms that are essential to our company’s success. You’ll work with a talented engineering team to build a resilient, high-performance infrastructure, and you’ll lead initiatives that improve the speed, reliability, and quality of our deployment pipelines. As a DevOps Lead, you will also play a crucial mentorship role, helping junior team members grow, building a collaborative DevOps culture, and ensuring best practices are shared and followed across the team.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Contribute to and lead the architecture and infrastructure strategies, focusing on availability, scalability, security, and performance. 
  • Improve, implement, and maintain our CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployments. 
  • Build and enforce SDLC best practices across development and operations. 
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues impacting our SDLC, ensuring efficient workflows. 
  • Develop and maintain AWS infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code (IaC) practices. 
  • Build scripts and monitoring tools to optimize and reduce AWS costs. 
  • Work closely with engineering teams to promote best practices and maximize the effective use of our tool portfolio. 
  • Foster a DevOps culture across Resonate by reducing time to deliver code to production. 
  • Mentor and guide junior DevOps team members, sharing knowledge and best practices. 
  • Participate in on-call rotations, responding to infrastructure issues as needed. 

Qualifications & Experience Requirements 

  • 6-8 years of professional experience in DevOps or a related software/system engineering role. 
  • 1+ years of management experience and/or experience mentoring junior team members. 
  • 2+ years of Python coding/scripting experience. 
  • 1-2 years of experience with Terraform for infrastructure-as-code. 
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with AWS; DevOps or Solutions Architect Professional certification is a plus. 
  • Experience with Linux system administration and management. 
  • Strong background in administering and managing monitoring tools such as Splunk, TIG (Telegraf, InfluxDB, Grafana), Nagios, or AWS X-Ray. 
  • Proficiency with container management using Docker and AWS ECS/Fargate. 
  • Experience with build tools such as Maven, Gradle, and SBT. 
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub/GitLab, TeamCity/Jenkins, AWS CodeDeploy/CodePipeline, GitHub Actions). 
  • Familiarity with streaming data services like Kafka. 
  • Proficiency in configuration management tools (Ansible preferred). 
  • Experience collaborating with software engineering teams in an Agile environment. 
  • Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure issues. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience managing Java Spring Boot microservices. 
  • Familiarity with AWS data engineering and MLOps tools such as EMR and SageMaker. 
  • Experience with Step Functions and AWS Lambda development. 
  • Background in ETL process development. 
  • Experience coordinating with security vendors for regular security scans and penetration testing. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
