Senior Software Engineer - Backend - Marketplace

New York

About the company

ResortPass is building a new category in hospitality: day access to luxury hotel experiences like pools, beaches, spas, and wellness, so people can escape without an overnight stay. Our marketplace connects guests with 2,400+ partner hotels and resorts (including Ritz-Carlton, Four Seasons, Marriott, and Hilton) and has helped millions discover premium experiences close to home. Backed by leading consumer and growth investors including CRV, Declaration, Brian Kelly (The Points Guy), WME, FJ Labs, we’re scaling a product people love while unlocking new revenue for hotel partners.

About the role

We’re hiring a Senior Backend Software Engineer to help power the ResortPass marketplace, the platform that enables guests to search, discover, and book day experiences across thousands of hotel and spa partners. You’ll own backend services and data models on our critical path (search/discovery, availability, pricing, checkout), with a focus on reliability, performance, and secure-by-default design as we scale. You’ll ship end-to-end from design and implementation to observability, production operations, and iteration and you’ll have autonomy to drive technical decisions in your area.

What you'll own

  • Own critical backend services on the critical path: search/discovery, availability, pricing, checkout.

  • Own reliability and performance for your area (SLIs/SLOs, p95 latency, error rates, alerting, incident follow-ups)

  • Design APIs and service boundaries with secure-by-default access control and privacy-aware logging.

  • Own data models and migrations with strong correctness and backward compatibility.

  • Drive high-velocity execution: break down ambiguous problems, ship iteratively, measure impact, and reduce operational toil.

  • Uplevel the team through code reviews, design feedback, and establishing best practices for testing, observability, and maintainability.

  • Set and improve reliability and performance for your area (SLIs/SLOs, p95 latency, error rates, alerting, incident follow-ups).

  • Work on a modern and versatile tech stack:

    • Deployed in AWS: EKS, ECS, RDS, MSK, …

    • Languages: Kotlin, Terraform, Node.js, Python, Ruby on Rails

    • CI: GitHub Actions

    • Data: Postgres, Redis, Kafka, MongoDB, Redshift

Your experience

  • 8+ years building and operating production backend systems (APIs, services, data pipelines).

  • Strong fundamentals in data modeling, distributed systems, and performance debugging.

  • Experience with relational databases and at least one of: caching, queues/async processing, or search infrastructure.

  • Experience building in a typed language with strong attention to correctness and maintainability.

  • Proven ownership: you’ve led projects end-to-end, shipped iteratively, and supported what you built in production.

  • Sound architectural judgment (service boundaries, domain modeling, tradeoffs) and ability to keep systems maintainable as they scale.

  • Strong engineering habits: testing strategy, observability, code quality, and pragmatic security practices.

  • High-leverage collaborator: clear written communication, effective cross-functional work, and you uplevel others through code and design reviews.

  • You show up with integrity, kindness, and accountability. While building a startup is hard, being a good person is not. We are creating a culture of people with whom you would look forward to working.

Benefits

  • Health, Dental & Vision — We're deeply invested in the health and well-being of our team and are proud to contribute to the monthly premiums of these insurance plans.

  • Stock Option Plan — We offer employees the opportunity to become part-owners in our mission. Let’s redefine what it means to be a guest, together.

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
