Program Overview
RFA’s 2025 summer internship program will run for approximately 10 weeks, from Monday June 2 - Friday, August 15, 2025. Over the course of this internship, all interns will be immersed in RFA’s programmatic and policy work by supporting one of RFA's innovative teams in achieving their strategic goals. Interns will work on various projects during their time at RFA, while also enjoying a range of learning and professional development opportunities.
Interns will work virtually and will be expected to use their own internet/computers. Interns will also be assigned RFA email addresses for the duration of the summer.
Team Overview
The Technology and Impact Systems (TIS) Team within the Impact & Learning Team manages technology and data functions to support robust data infrastructure, insightful analysis, and meaningful impact measurement. This team ensures seamless system integration, data integrity, and accessibility to drive evidence-based decision-making. Key responsibilities include developing technical infrastructure, designing tools for analytics and visualization, and collaborating on metrics to link program outcomes to population-level impacts. By providing innovative data solutions, the TIS Team empowers RFA to translate data into actionable insights that advance its mission.
Position Overview & Requirements
RFA offers summer internships to individuals who are at least 18 years old and who have:
- Proficient computer skills, including Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel);
- Excellent written, verbal, and listening communication skills;
- A strong work ethic, positive attitude, enthusiasm, professionalism, ambition, curiosity, and rigor in all that you do;
- A commitment to Results for America’s mission and vision;
- Respect for Results for America’s organizational values;
- Proficiency in Data Visualization and CRM Tools: Familiarity with tools like Tableau and Salesforce CRM Analytics (CRMA) for creating reports, dashboards, and visualizing data insights effectively.
- Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy when cleaning and organizing data to ensure integrity and consistency.
- Salesforce Familiarity: Basic understanding of Salesforce or willingness to learn Salesforce functionalities such as reports, dashboards, and data import/export.
- Communication Skills: Ability to collaborate with team members, document processes clearly, and present findings in an understandable manner.
- Analytical Mindset: Interest in solving data-related challenges and deriving actionable insights from large datasets.
Position Responsibilities
- Data Analysis and Management (30%)
- Assist with analyzing, organizing, and cleaning data to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Work on data-related projects such as updating workflows, optimizing dataflows, or reorganizing existing structures.
- Dashboard Development and Reporting (30%)
- Create and update reports or dashboards to visualize key metrics and insights.
- Use tools like Salesforce CRM Analytics (CRMA) or Tableau to enhance data presentation and usability.
- Documentation and Collaboration (25%)
- Document project workflows, updates, and best practices for future reference.
- Collaborate with team members to gather requirements and provide support on various data-related tasks.
- Update and maintain high-quality training documentation, including end-user manuals, tutorial videos and quick reference guides.
- System and Security Enhancements (15%)
- Review and update system configurations, including security settings, to improve accessibility and compliance.
- Ensure data integrity and proper permissions across tools and reports.
Position Reporting Relationship
The intern will report directly to RFA Salesforce Admins, who lead the Technology & Impact Systems summer intern team. They will also receive guidance and support from Program Area team leads within RFA.
Rate of Pay
Individuals with 1-4 years of postsecondary education or relevant work experience in government or nonprofit organizations will be paid $27/hour.
Individuals with 5 or more years of postsecondary education or relevant work experience in government or nonprofit organizations will be paid $32/hour.
The exact work schedule will be determined in coordination with the relevant RFA program lead.
