[2025 Summer Internships] Local Practice

Washington, District of Columbia, United States

Organization: Results for America
Role: 2025 Summer Policy/Research Intern, Local Practice Team
Location: Remote

Organization Overview

Results for America (RFA) is the leading, national nonprofit organization helping policymakers at all levels of government harness the power of evidence and data to solve the world’s greatest challenges. Our mission is to make investing in what works the “new normal,” so that, one day, all government leaders use rigorous evidence and quality data to inform important policy and funding decisions. We believe that data-driven and evidence-based policy decisions should be used to increase the impact of the over $2 trillion that governments spend annually to open opportunities and advance economic mobility.

Program Overview

RFA’s 2025 summer internship program will run for approximately 10 weeks, from Monday June 2 - Friday, August 15, 2025. Over the course of this internship, all interns will be immersed in RFA’s programmatic and policy work by supporting one of RFA's innovative teams in achieving their strategic goals. Interns will work on various projects during their time at RFA, while also enjoying a range of learning and professional development opportunities.

Interns will work virtually and will be expected to use their own internet/computers. Interns will also be assigned RFA email addresses for the duration of the summer.

Team Overview

RFA has organized a “practice” at every level of government: federal, state, and local. The Local Practice Team (LPT) is responsible for coordinating and measuring the collective efforts of all teams that support local governments, and helping to ensure those government supports contribute to RFA’s organizational North Star goals.  Specifically, the LPT will help plan, coordinate, and lead the organization’s effort to shift $1 billion and deliver 34 proof points of success.

The LPT also supports and delivers on inter-organizational priorities to making meaningful change on economic mobility outcomes, particularly in RFA's “Theory of Change Communities” and leads specific initiatives that support local governments to make the most of the historic opportunity presented by the recovery investments from the American Rescue Plan (ARP), Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) and the Inflation Reduction Action (IRA).

Through all this work, RFA broadly, and the LPT specifically encourages local governments to leverage public dollars to make investments in evidence-based approaches and deliver measurable, equitable access to opportunities and positive outcomes for their residents.
