Program Overview

RFA’s 2025 summer internship program will run for approximately 10 weeks, from Monday June 2 - Friday, August 15, 2025. Over the course of this internship, all interns will be immersed in RFA’s programmatic and policy work by supporting one of RFA's innovative teams in achieving their strategic goals. Interns will work on various projects during their time at RFA, while also enjoying a range of learning and professional development opportunities. 

 

Interns will work virtually and will be expected to use their own internet/computers. Interns will also be assigned RFA email addresses for the duration of the summer.

 

Team Overview
The Strategic Communications team mobilizes policymakers to invest in what works and promotes RFA’s programs and initiatives through events, e-blasts, earned media, blogs and op-eds, impact stories, social media, videos, websites, monthly newsletters, paid media, direct outreach, and more.

 

Position Overview & Requirements

RFA offers summer internships to individuals who are at least 18 years old and who have:

  • Proficient computer skills, including Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel); 
  • Excellent written, verbal, and listening communication skills; 
  • A strong work ethic, positive attitude, enthusiasm, professionalism, ambition, curiosity, and rigor in all that you do; 
  • A commitment to Results for America’s mission and vision
  • Respect for Results for America’s organizational values.

 

Position Responsibilities

Content Creation and Research (50%)

  • Research best practices for digital promotion, including social media, email marketing, paid advertising, and media pitching.
  • Source content that can be repurposed for Results for America’s social media channels.
  • Draft social media copy to promote Results for America’s resources and programs.
  • Research journalists and media networks to pitch stories to.
  • Brainstorm content ideas to distribute across Results for America’s various digital channels.

Data Management (30%)

  • Migrate archived data to our customer relationship management (CRM) system, Salesforce
  • Standardize contact data to improve searchability in Salesforce, organizing contacts into Salesforce Campaigns, Programs, etc.
  • Assist the Senior Manager, Strategic Communications in cleaning up the data in Salesforce.

User Experience Research (20%)

  • Assist the Senior Manager, Strategic Communications in creating automated user journeys in Salesforce.

 

Position Reporting Relationship

The Strategic Communications Intern will report to the Senior Manager, Strategic Communications.

 

Rate of Pay

Individuals with 1-4 years of postsecondary education or relevant work experience in government or nonprofit organizations will be paid $27/hour. 

Individuals with 5 or more years of postsecondary education or relevant work experience in government or nonprofit organizations will be paid $32/hour.


The exact work schedule will be determined in coordination with the relevant RFA program lead.
