ABOUT RETOOL

Nearly every company in the world runs on custom software: Gartner estimates that up to 50% of all code is written for internal use. This is the operational software for refunding orders, underwriting loans, onboarding employees, analyzing transactions, and providing customer support. But most companies don’t have adequate resources to properly invest in these tools, leading to a lot of old and clunky internal software or, even worse, users still stuck in manual and spreadsheet flows.

At Retool, we’re on a mission to bring good software to everyone. We’re building a new type of development platform that combines the benefits of traditional software development with a drag-and-drop UI editor and AI, making it dramatically faster to build internal tools. We believe that the future of software development lies in abstracting away the tedious and repetitive tasks developers waste time on, while creating reusable components that act as a force multiplier for future developers and projects. The result is not just productivity, but good software by default. And that’s a mission worth striving for.

Today, our customers span from small startups building their first operational tools to Fortune 500 companies building mission-critical apps for thousands of users across their business. Interested in joining us? Let us know!

WHY WE’RE LOOKING FOR YOU

Retool is rapidly growing, and we’re expanding our focus on the manufacturing sector, where operational efficiency and innovation are critical to success. To help us reach our goals, you’ll own a portion of Retool’s enterprise segment, specifically targeting manufacturing companies with over 1,000 employees.

In this role, you’ll work alongside our Sales Development team to build your pipeline and collaborate with our Sales Engineers to win six and seven-figure deals. Manufacturing companies face unique challenges—from streamlining production workflows to optimizing supply chains—and Retool is uniquely positioned to help address them.

You’re comfortable running point on major deals, managing a book of business, and building a playbook for future team members. You’re adept at listening to and engaging with engineers—our core buyers—and navigating both technical and executive discussions. You bring best practices, deep sales acumen, and a relentless drive to close impactful deals.

WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH

You’ll work with a talented team of Sales Engineers (who are engineers themselves!), Account Executives, and Sales Development Representatives. You’ll dive into forecasting meetings, partner with our Head of Sales, CEO, and CTO to close banner deals, and work cross-functionally with Marketing and Engineering to develop tailored solutions for manufacturing clients.

You’ll join a broader team of Retoolers passionate about solving customer problems, building an innovative product, and supporting each other. We also enjoy the occasional, well-intentioned sarcasm.

IN THIS ROLE, YOU'LL

  • Identify and qualify leads within the manufacturing sector, developing them into high-value opportunities.
  • Build relationships and establish communication at the highest executive levels in manufacturing accounts to understand their needs and priorities, particularly around production workflows, supply chain optimization, and operational efficiency.
  • Own the closing process, including negotiations and procurement activities, while ensuring alignment with the unique challenges and compliance standards of the manufacturing industry.
  • Keep Salesforce up to date with customer information, forecasts, and pipeline data to improve our sales process and decision-making.
  • Develop and execute a strategic plan to meet monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue objectives.
  • Work with technical stakeholders and executives to identify opportunities where Retool can accelerate innovation within their engineering and operational workflows.
  • Partner with sales engineers and the executive team to build relationships at all levels of key manufacturing accounts.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to identify and deploy features that continuously increase Retool's value for manufacturing customers, such as inventory management, production analytics, or equipment maintenance tools.

THE SKILLSET YOU'LL BRING

  • 8+ years of total sales experience, including 2+ years of enterprise closing experience in the manufacturing vertical or related industries, with a focus on developer tools, cloud infrastructure, databases, or business intelligence solutions.
  • A proven track record of driving consistent activity, building a strong pipeline, and achieving quota.
  • A solution-based approach to selling and the ability to manage complex sales processes involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent presentation, listening, and organizational skills, with strong contact management capabilities.
  • A hands-on approach to learning technical concepts and leading technical discussions with engineering, IT, and operational stakeholders.

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
