Senior Manager, Product Development

The Senior Manager of Product Development will be responsible for leading the product development process for innovative skincare and body care products, ensuring seamless execution from concept to market. The role requires a collaborative approach, working closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, packaging, marketing, regulatory, quality and external manufacturing partners. The Senior Manager will oversee all phases of product development, drive creative and technical innovations, and manage timelines and deliverables to ensure the highest product standards and market success.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee end-to-end product development for skincare and body care products, working directly with internal R&D lab and contract manufacturer partners to track project milestones and drive progress throughout the development process.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to establish formula performance for all new product launches.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects, ensuring deadlines, regulatory standards, and cost parameters are met.
- Conduct competitive analysis on new product launches, ingredient innovations, and industry trends to gather insights and data that support the development of new product concepts.
- Communicate formula/project status updates in weekly product development, cross functional, regulatory and contract manufacturer meetings.
- Oversee formula submissions, track evaluations, and relay critical feedback between internal teams and external partners.
- Lead communication with external vendors, managing timelines, scale-up efforts, line trials and production.
- Manage all product testing phases, from safety to efficacy, ensuring regulatory compliance and claims substantiation.
- Stay abreast of market trends and competitor product launches, incorporating relevant insights into development projects.
- Manage artwork assets and review artwork for primary and secondary packaging.
- Ensure all product documentation, such as product briefs, technical specs, and testing results are accurately maintained.
- Drive innovation by researching and identifying emerging trends, ingredients, and technologies for new product development, as needed.
Requirements / Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Business, or a related field.
- 5-6 years of experience in product development within skincare or body care categories, with a proven track record of launching successful products.
- Deep understanding of skincare formulations, ingredients, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience executing safety tests, clinical and consumer perception testing.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage complex projects and timelines.
- Problem-solving abilities, with a focus on finding creative solutions to product development challenges.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and maintain a proactive, solution-oriented approach.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
The annual salary for this position is between $130,000 - $150,000, depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This role is based out of our headquarters in Los Angeles, CA following a hybrid schedule - at least 3 days a week in office.
