Job Description

We are a cutting-edge defense technology firm that is renowned for building next-generation AI systems for national security applications. We seek highly motivated, GIS professionals in India to join our team as Data Labeling / GIS Specialists for an urgent and high-priority client deliverable involving overhead imagery analysis.

This role is ideal for candidates with strong GIS experience who thrive in fast-paced, mission-driven environments. You’ll combine your geospatial and analytical expertise to train advanced object detection AI models by labeling and interpreting satellite and aerial imagery with exceptional precision. This is an ideal role for individuals who are extremely detail-oriented, can work independently, are deeply analytical, and excited to contribute to impactful defense-related AI work.

About the Role

As a Data Labeling / GIS Specialist you will play a critical role in annotating and interpreting geospatial imagery that fuels our AI systems. You’ll operate within a tightly focused, collaborative team, applying your GIS knowledge to ensure labeling accuracy, geospatial consistency, and adherence to mapping standards.

This position is perfect for individuals who are:

  • Highly detail-oriented and GIS fluent
  • Able to interpret overhead imagery confidently
  • Excited to apply their geospatial analysis skills to real-world defense applications
  • We rely on your GIS expertise to maintain high accuracy under demanding timelines. Exceptional performers will be considered for long-term, full-time roles as we scale our geospatial AI programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leverage GIS tools and methods (such as QGIS or ArcGIS) to accurately identify, analyze, and label objects in satellite and aerial imagery.
  • Ensure geospatial precision in all labeled datasets — understanding projection systems, coordinate accuracy, and spatial relationships.
  • Apply sound logic on ambiguous cases; document reasoning to maintain labeling consistency.
  • Proactively communicate with project leadership and technical teams on progress, challenges, and workflow improvements, including QA.
  • Help refine geospatial labeling standards and contribute to process automation or quality improvements where possible.
  • Develop deeper expertise in imagery analysis and GIS workflows, and gain basic familiarity with how these labeled data sets train machine learning models.

Qualifications:

  • At least an undergraduate degree; please list your GPA in your CV.
  • Prior experience with GIS is required. Imagery analysis, QGIS, and labeling is highly preferred.
  • Prior professional experience with GIS tools is required — especially QGIS, ArcGIS, or similar platforms used for imagery interpretation, annotation, or spatial analysis.
  • Strong command over Microsoft Suite and Google tools such as Excel, Word, Sheets, etc. You must be well versed in file management- we want those who are highly organized!
  • Proven analytical and logical reasoning skills — able to manage multiple datasets and tasks with precision and consistency.
  • Self-starter with a bias for action, strong attention to detail, and ability to maintain accuracy and productivity under tight deadlines.
  • The perfect candidate for this role is someone who is adaptable, highly dependable, and can apply logic to multiple different scenarios concurrently. We’re seeking candidates with proven analytical skills, and are excited to solve complex problems.
  • This position is a remote role, however, candidates must be able to reliably produce, at a high degree of accuracy, over sustained timelines.
  • You must be extremely quality focused, a self-starter with bias for action, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Benefits (Applies to United States Employees only)

  • Full medical, dental, vision coverage for employee and dependents
  • 401k matching program
  • PTO and Holidays
  • Bonus and other incentive programs
  • Access to mental health program
  • Access to Flexible Spending Accounts for Health Care, Dependent and Commuter

Classification of protected categories is as follows:

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
