About the role
We’re looking for a Global Insurance Lead to join our  team.

You’ll be responsible for maintaining our insurance programme supporting various business requirements (e.g. rider’s personal accident and third-party liability, general liability, employer liability, D&O, freight, cybersecurity, etc). Day-to-day, you will ensure the right balance and trade-offs between commercial performance and insurance cover/limits whilst maintaining business compliance. Over time, you will support the design of innovative insurance plans. You will report to the Chief Legal Officer.

This is an excellent opportunity for an insurance expert to join a fast-growing company and make an impact through an efficient and well-managed programme.

What you’ll do

  • Interact with brokers and insurance partners to maintain our insurance programme.
  • Pro-actively assess the risk exposures of our business, which can be mitigated by insurance and deploy procurement strategies to ensure optimal commercial performance whilst meeting all business requirements to stay compliant and ensure appropriate risk coverage;
  • Build comprehensive data analytics on accidents and business exposure, and deploy recommendations to reduce the subsequent risk and insurance premiums;
  • Ensure that we reduce business exposure on claims that are not covered by insurance products.
  • Ensure a strict monitoring of all claims and coordinate across the company to ensure claims resolution within expected SLAs;
  • Lead and support all business stakeholders on insurance topics ranging from compliance with tender requirements to management of user claims under policies;
  • Own the insurance Profit and Loss (P&L) budget, diligently monitoring the timely payment of all insurance premiums;
  • Review policy terms proposed by the insurers to ensure they align with business needs and standards, and actively negotiate them with the insurance providers;
  • Advise on insurance requirements imposed on the Group by vendors and third party providers and required by our Group from our suppliers and subcontractors;
  • Provide trainings on the Group insurance portfolio and other insurance related topics, according to the business needs;
  • Develop an insurance roadmap (e.g. safety analytics, self-insurance) and collaborate with Legal, Product, Engineering, Development, and Business teams to ensure seamless execution;
  • Serve as the owner of and the subject matter expert on the insurance matters for the whole Group.

What you’ll bring

  • Vision and strategy: you have 8 to 12 years of experience in the insurance sector and can jungle with very different types of insurance products. You can establish a north star for our insurance programme while maintaining an agile mindset towards short-term business requirements. You can share and deploy that vision in a fast-paced environment;
  • Insurance expertise: You are a subject matter expert on insurance regulatory landscape and can challenge the business on required coverage and limits to find an optimal balance between performance and corporate risk/compliance; ideally you come from an Insurtech company and/or have an understanding of how to automate part of the processes between reporting and claims management. You will support the claims management, manage and own the day-to-day business exposure and fully loaded cost of our combined insurance programmes.
  • Risk analysis: you are eager to fully understand how we operate and can go deeper into the corporate risk assessment and share some risk analysis supported by data. This is to ensure we fine-tune and optimise our coverage over time. You can share those analyses with senior management,  follow up with any recommendations made to reduce the business risk exposure and implement the change;
  • Contract expertise: you understand insurance regulations and policies and can easily navigate between the commercial, technical, and legal aspects of an insurance product to facilitate the contractual closing;
  • Communication skills: You have the ability to communicate effectively on complex insurance topics and adjust your communication style, as you'll be working directly with our public policy teams, legal counsels, and senior management, as well as with external providers. ;
  • Pro-active approach: you are a highly proactive leader, anticipating future challenges and opportunities within our insurance program and going beyond simply reacting to events. Your proactive approach will be crucial in identifying potential exposures before they materialize, driving efficiency in our claims management, and ensuring our insurance strategy remains aligned with the evolving needs of the business.
  • Collaboration and Autonomy: you are a strong team player, capable of close collaboration with key stakeholders such as Legal and Finance to ensure alignment and comprehensive risk management. Simultaneously, you possess the ability to work independently, taking initiative and proactively driving change and improvements within the insurance program
  • Ownership: you have a strong sense of ownership. This means taking full responsibility for the strategic direction, operational efficiency, and overall performance of our insurance programs. You will be the primary driver of change, proactively identifying areas for improvement and spearheading their implementation. This ownership mentality extends to fostering strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners, ensuring our insurance strategy is fully integrated with the broader business objectives.
