We’re looking for a Database Developer to join our team and ensure our Azure SQL environment performs at its best. This role is a blend of hands-on performance tuning and strategic input into database architecture and scaling. You’ll work closely with engineering teams and managed service teams to solve complex performance issues, guide design decisions, and keep our data platform scalable, reliable, and cost-effective.
Key Responsibilities:
- Performance Optimization: Improve database efficiency through index tuning, query refinement, and execution plan analysis.
- Query Optimization & Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve inefficiencies to maintain smooth database operations.
- Database Automation & Scripting: Develop stored procedures, scripts, and automation processes for streamlined management.
- Architectural Input: Shape schema design, indexing approaches, and capacity planning to support future scalability and efficiency.
- Proactive Monitoring & Diagnostics: Utilize tools like SQL Profiler, Query Store, DMVs, and Azure Monitor to track performance and ensure system health.
- Azure Database Management: Configure, scale, and optimize Azure SQL Database instances with best practices in automation, service tiers, and elastic pools.
- Migration & Upgrades: Oversee database transitions, patch management, and version updates.
- Technical Documentation: Maintain comprehensive records of configurations, policies, and procedures.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with DevOps and development teams to integrate database enhancements into CI/CD workflows.
- Industry Awareness: Stay ahead of evolving database technologies and best practices.
Required Qualifications:
- SQL Server/Azure SQL expertise: Hands-on experience with SQL Server and/or Azure SQL Database in production environments.
- T-SQL proficiency: Deep knowledge of T-SQL and experience writing optimized queries, procedures, and scripts.
- Strong performance tuning background: Demonstrated success with query optimization, indexing, and workload analysis.
- Cloud fluency: Practical experience managing Azure SQL resources, with understanding of Azure PaaS capabilities.
- Monitoring tool usage: Experience with performance monitoring tools and techniques (SQL Profiler, Query Store, Azure Monitor, etc.).
- Nice to have: Exposure to .NET development or Azure DevOps is a plus, particularly for CI/CD and automation work.
- Bonus: Experience with backup and disaster recovery strategies is advantageous.
Working Hours:
- 3 PM to 12 AM Manila time, hybrid setup with no fixed office schedule on a weekly basis.
