What’s special about this team:  

Our Data Science team is responsible for providing data-related solutions to the Innovation & Sciences division.  We work closely with various teams across Amway, including market research, plant and agricultural research, marketing, regulatory, and clinical investigators.  We support product development from the initial idea to market launch.  Our collaborative team identifies and integrates various data sources, conducts complex analyses, and develops models to facilitate rapid, informed data-driven decisions.   And, of course, we are exploring ways to utilize AI to enhance agility and create models that enable fast, data-driven decision-making and speed to market. 

How would an intern contribute to the team’s success:  

In this role, you would develop your data science acumen across every step of the data analysis pipeline.  From data cleansing and wrangling to output and interpretation, you will develop an understanding of how data science can be applied to deliver real, actionable insights for the company.  We seek individuals with the ability to clearly communicate complex data science methods and results to a non-technical audience, interpreting data and findings in layman’s terms and effectively explaining the approach, process, results, and next steps. 

An example of a typical project would be: 

Combining and preparing various data sources, determining the best inputs based on the desired output, and analyzing results to inform decisions.  There is an aspect of discovery to all of our projects: how can we more effectively use new or existing (internal and external) data sources to predict new, unseen insights.

• Desired Major: Data Science, Business Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science

• Desired Class Year: Junior, Senior, Masters

• Desired Skills: Data analysis, Python, SQL, data visualization and problem solving
