Plaid - Software Engineering, New Grad, application via RippleMatch

New York, NY

This role is with Plaid. Plaid uses RippleMatch to find top talent.

We believe that the way people interact with their finances will drastically improve in the next few years. We’re dedicated to empowering this transformation by building the tools and experiences that thousands of developers use to create their own products. Plaid powers the tools millions of people rely on to live a healthier financial life. We work with thousands of companies like Venmo, SoFi, several of the Fortune 500, and many of the largest banks to make it easy for people to connect their financial accounts to the apps and services they want to use. Plaid’s network covers 12,000 financial institutions across the US, Canada, UK and Europe. Founded in 2013, the company is headquartered in San Francisco with offices in New York, Washington D.C., London and Amsterdam.

We’re architected around decoupled services. You could be working on our internal distributed systems framework that holds them all together, or building out the newest version of our API. Most of our back-end core systems are written in Go, but that's not a prerequisite. We pick the right tool for the job and have systems in Go, TypeScript, and Python.

Responsibilities

  • Join one of our engineering teams and contribute to high-impact projects from day one

  • Design, build, and launch production-grade systems, APIs, and services
Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and operational excellence practices

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and other engineers

  • Learn from experienced engineers and receive mentorship to help launch your career

Qualifications

  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field, with a graduation date between Winter 2025 and Spring 2026 OR less than 1 year of professional working experience as a software engineer

  • A strong foundation in computer science fundamentals, with experience building meaningful software projects

  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Go, Python, Java, TypeScript, etc.)

  • Flexibility and curiosity — while many of our engineers work across the stack, including frontend, backend, and infrastructure, others specialize more deeply. We strive to match new grads with teams aligned to their interests and strengths, whether that means full-stack product development or highly technical systems work.

  • Builder’s mindset — you approach engineering with curiosity and care, thinking not just about how code works, but who it’s for. Whether you’re designing for external customers or for other engineers at Plaid, you’re excited to create solutions that are scalable, elegant, and impactful.

  • Internship experience writing software for a startup or large tech company is a plus

  • A collaborative and curious approach—you’re excited to grow and help others do the same

Our mission at Plaid is to unlock financial freedom for everyone. To support that mission, we seek to build a diverse team of driven individuals who care deeply about making the financial ecosystem more equitable. We recognize that strong qualifications can come from both prior work experiences and lived experiences. We encourage you to apply to a role even if your experience doesn't fully match the job description. We are always looking for team members that will bring something unique to Plaid!
