As an Engineering Practice Lead at Rise8, you will:
- Motivate, cast vision, and provide growth opportunities to the practice.
- Recruit the right talent at the right time into my practice by utilizing a modern hiring and allocations process
- Retain high-quality talent by providing career development advice to my team members
- Grow my practice’s talent by being an empathetic practice coach and mentor
- Accelerate practice scale and reach by fostering and promoting a culture of continuous learning and feedback so that people can enable others
- Coach, mentor, and train coaches and staff to accelerate their skills and value to the customer.
- Encourage and monitor company culture within the practice and grow the current talent through communication and pairing.
- Advocate for the practice and drive internal and external awareness of the value and impact the company provides.
- Identify gaps, initiate constructive dialogues, and partner with HR for improvement strategies in performance management.
- Maintain project awareness, engage selectively, and offer high-level guidance for holistic oversight.
- Conduct productive department meetings, encourage participation, and idea exchange for strategized meetings.
- Monitor productivity, adapt workloads, and ensure sustainable performance with efficiency planning.
- Amplify team expertise through engaging online content, showcase achievements and insights for an elevated online presence.
- Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of projects and related systems applying strong detail-orientation and problem-solving skills as it pertains to technical implementation techniques.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, design, and operations, to define and deliver on key product initiatives.
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of experience supporting Software and/or DevOps environments.
- Minimum 4 years of experience managing and overseeing technical teams
- Strong background in DevOps practices and software engineering principles with a commitment to staying updated with industry trends and tools.
- Experience in evaluating engineers, creating skills matrices, and driving talent development while simultaneously displaying a track record of successfully managing engineering teams, offering technical guidance, and fostering innovation.
- Solid foundation in software design, development, architecture principles, and the software development lifecycle.
- Ability to formulate and execute a technical strategy aligning with business goals.
- Experience in guiding engineering practices, especially pair programming, alongside excellent communication skills crucial for collaborating with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- In-depth understanding of DevOps methodologies, automation, CI/CD pipelines, IaC, containerization, and orchestration.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for technical challenges and solutions.
- Proficiency in project management methodologies, with a track record of on-time project delivery.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active Security Clearance
- Possession of certifications from major cloud providers such as Google Cloud, AWS, or Azure.
- Master's degree in Engineering or Engineering Management, with comparable industry experience, showcasing a strong academic and practical foundation.
- Proficiency in multiple programming languages, reflecting a versatile skill set and adaptability.
- Strong combination of software engineering and DevOps experience, enabling effective support across various technical domains.
Salary
The annual salary range for this role as it is posted is $184,117 - $276,176 regardless of final candidate location within the United States. The final job level and annual salary will be determined based on the education, qualification, knowledge, skills, ability, and experience of the final candidate(s), and calibrated against relevant market data and internal team equity.

- Premium Insurance: We cover up to 100% of the employee premium and up to 80% of the combined dependent premium on our base health plan, depending on pay band. - Wellness Budget: To encourage and support a well-rounded healthy lifestyle, we cover 100% reimbursement on a variety of wellness activities and products, up to $500 per calendar year. Or Rise8 is part of the the Life Time Corporate Partner program. In lieu of your $500 annual wellness benefit, you can instead get a $75 monthly credit towards a Life Time membership ($900 annual benefit).
- Equipment: We offer a MacBook Pro and multi-port adapter.
All of Rise8’s work in this area is with Federal Government customers that require our employees involved with their projects be U.S. citizens. As such, this role requires U.S. citizenship. If hired, you would also be required to go through a background investigation.
