Design at Rise8

At Rise8, we inspire change in software cultures to prioritize rapid delivery of end-user outcomes. As a Designer here, you'll transform clients unfamiliar with design-thinking and user research into agile and empathetic problem-solvers. Your role involves hands-on work and mentorship around User Centered Design principles, "double diamond" processes, and establishment of feedback loops through research and prototyping.

We value versatile, "full stack" Product Designers that own the holistic user experience for their product or service. Our Designers are researchers, service designers, brand strategists, and interface designers, all in one. Each project will require a different blend of skills depending on client needs. While not required to be an expert in all areas, a growth mindset to develop in less familiar domains is essential.

Designers will spend most of their time embedded in a cross-functional team for a single product or service. As such, we come together as a broader Rise8 design community to share and evolve our practices across teams.

Product Design III Role

Because Rise8 is a professional services company focused on improving the software delivery practices of customer organizations, growing in your career here means having more of an impact as a consultant.

At Rise8, our Product Designer IIIs (PD3) are expected to be the “full-stack” design lead within a cross-functional team and own the end-to-end user experience for their product. Depending on the project, a PD3 might be the only designer on a cross-functional team, or, may be helping enable another designer as a teacher. In either case, a PD3 is focused on driving a strong culture of user centricity on their team.

Qualifications 

  • 3-6 years experience in a product design, UX, or related field. 
  • Bring deep experience in at least one of the three facets of design: User Research, UI Design and/or Service Design.
  • Able to lead product design from research through implementation.
  • Experienced in user research methodologies and can educate others.
  • Experience designing different applications for different use cases (consumer facing to internal tools).
  • Experience using modern design systems and frameworks (eg. iOS, Android, Bootstrap, Material Design, Tailwind, USWDS, etc.)
  • Ability to work in and apply design processes in agile environments.
  • Experience and curiosity within agile and lean philosophies.
  • Experience working with clients or stakeholders in a consulting role.
  • Active member of the design community.
  • Ability to travel up to 20%.
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance for US Government work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Have experience coaching client designers in user-centered design practices through “pairing” enablement.
  • Strong facilitation skills.
  • Knowledge of front-end development and CSS
  • Experience working on cross functional software teams
  • Experience with DoD, especially at a DoD "Software Factory."
  • Currently holds a security clearance.

Salary 

The annual salary range for this role as it is posted is $111,132.00 to 166,698.00 regardless of final candidate location within the United States. The final job level and annual salary will be determined based on the education, qualification, knowledge, skills, ability, and experience of the final candidate(s), and calibrated against relevant market data and internal team equity.

  • Wellness Budget: To encourage and support a well-rounded healthy lifestyle, we cover 100% reimbursement on a variety of wellness activities and products, up to $500 per calendar year. Or Rise8 is part of the the Life Time Corporate Partner program. In lieu of your $500 annual wellness benefit, you can instead get a $75 monthly credit towards a Life Time membership ($900 annual benefit).
  • Equipment: We offer a MacBook Pro

All of Rise8’s work in this area is with Federal Government customers that require our employees involved with their projects be U.S. citizens. As such, this role requires U.S. citizenship. If hired, you would also be required to go through a background investigation.
