As a Senior FinOps Cloud Engineer at Rise8, you will:
- Be the hands-on technical expert responsible for finding and helping to realize cloud cost savings.
- Dive deep into billing and usage data to identify waste, work directly with engineering teams to implement optimizations, and build the dashboards and reports that provide visibility to the entire organization.
- Possess deep cloud platform knowledge and a passion for data-driven problem-solving
Responsibilities:
- Perform detailed analysis of cloud billing and usage data to identify cost-saving opportunities (e.g., rightsizing, storage tier changes, idle resources).
- Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to provide stakeholders with clear visibility into cloud spend and trends.
- Work collaboratively with application teams to validate and implement optimization recommendations.
- Write scripts to automate the identification of untagged resources, cost anomalies, or other waste.
- Serve as the technical expert on cloud cost management tools and best practices for a specific cloud provider (e.g., AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management).
- Support Infrastructure as Code (IaC) adoption to ensure cost optimization and tagging policies are enforced automatically (Terraform preferred).
- Collaborate with platform engineers to design cost-efficient architectures for Kubernetes, containerized workloads, and cloud-native services.
- Take operational responsibility for cost optimization initiatives across large-scale production systems.
Qualifications:
- 6+ years of hands-on experience in a cloud engineering or operations role.
- Must-Have: Deep technical expertise with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP), including their native cost management tools.
- Strong data analysis skills and proficiency with tools like SQL and Excel; experience with visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
- Proficiency in administering Azure GovCloud or AWS GovCloud environments.
- Experience with container orchestration platforms (Kubernetes, AKS, or EKS) and cost considerations of running containerized workloads.
- Familiarity with networking concepts and their cost impact (e.g., data egress, load balancers, DNS, SSL, NAT).
- Experience troubleshooting operating systems and applications to identify inefficiencies or cost drivers.
- Proficiency in a scripting language, preferably Python, for data analysis and automation.
- Practical experience implementing and enforcing resource tagging policies.
Salary:
The annual salary range for this role as it is posted is $163,121 - $203,901 regardless of final candidate location within the United States. The final job level and annual salary will be determined based on the education, qualification, knowledge, skills, ability, and experience of the final candidate(s), and calibrated against relevant market data and internal team equity.

Or Rise8 is part of the the Life Time Corporate Partner program. In lieu of your $500 annual wellness benefit, you can instead get a $75 monthly credit towards a Life Time membership ($900 annual benefit).
