Quality Technician
Reports To: Quality Site Manager / Quality Manager | FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Position Summary
As a Quality Technician, your primary focus will be supporting field QA/QC activities through inspection,
documentation, weld tracking, material verification, and coordination with project supervision and the Quality team.
This role works directly in active project environments to help ensure welding, fabrication, piping, boiler, pressure component, and mechanical construction activities meet RMR Mechanical standards, approved procedures, applicable codes, and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
•Support the Quality Site Manager and project leadership with day-to-day QA/QC activities on assigned projects.
•Perform visual welding inspections and verify work is completed in accordance with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPSs), drawings, and project requirements.
•Verify welder identification, qualifications, and continuity records as required for assigned work.
•Assist with welder testing and qualification activities under the direction of Quality leadership.
•Maintain weld maps, weld logs, inspection records, material documentation, and other required quality records.
•Verify material identification, heat numbers, traceability, and documentation where required by the project or
applicable code.
•Assist with receiving inspections and verification of materials, components, and documentation.
•Monitor welding, fit-up, fabrication, piping, boiler, pressure-component, structural, and mechanical work for
compliance with project requirements.
•Coordinate and document required hold points, witness points, visual examinations, and inspections.
•Assist with coordination of NDE activities and maintain related reports and documentation.
• Identify and communicate quality concerns, deficiencies, or nonconforming work to the Quality Site Manager and
field supervision.
•Assist with Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), corrective-action documentation, punch lists, and reinspection
activities.
•Maintain organized and complete project quality files for turnover, customer review, and audit purposes.
•Assist with turnover packages, data books, weld documentation, inspection records, and project closeout activities.
•Participate in pre-job planning, quality meetings, and field coordination meetings as requested.
•Work collaboratively with Operations, Project Management, Safety, craft supervision, customers, and third-party
inspectors to support successful project execution.
Required Qualifications
•Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification required.
•2+ years of industrial construction, welding, fabrication, inspection, QA/QC, or related field experience preferred.
•Working knowledge of welding processes, weld discontinuities, inspection practices, and welding documentation.
•Working knowledge of applicable AWS requirements; exposure to ASME and NBIC requirements preferred.
•Ability to read and interpret drawings, isometrics, specifications, weld symbols, and project documentation.
•Experience maintaining inspection records, weld logs, material documentation, or similar quality records preferred.
•Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company driving requirements.
•Ability and willingness to travel extensively and work at project locations for extended periods.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
•Strong attention to detail and ability to identify workmanship or documentation concerns in active field environments.
•Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate respectfully with craft employees,
supervision, customers, and inspectors.
•Ability to maintain accurate, organized, and timely quality documentation.
•Ability to work independently while following project-specific quality procedures and direction from Quality leadership.
•Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and electronic documentation systems.
•Ability to manage multiple inspection and documentation priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
Physical & Work Requirements
•Full-time field position with extensive travel to project and customer sites.
•Ability to work in active industrial construction environments and around welding, fabrication, and heavy equipment
activities.
•Ability to walk and stand for extended periods and navigate uneven terrain, stairs, ladders, scaffolding, and elevated
work areas.
•Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
•Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures, weather conditions, and industrial environments.
•Ability to work extended shifts, nights, weekends, shutdowns, or outage schedules when required.
