Robotics Engineer, Applications

Milpitas, CA

Why RoboForce

RoboForce is an AI robotics company developing Physical AI–powered Robo-Labor for dull, dirty, and dangerous work. The company’s robots are engineered for demanding industrial environments, with a focus on real-world deployment and scalability.

We are seeking a Robotics Applications Engineer to serve as the critical bridge between our R&D team and real-world deployment. In this role, you will take our newest capabilities from prototype to production—deploying them to the fleet, hardening them against the unpredictability of outdoor operation, and ensuring they are ready for customer handoff. You are both the first line of defense against system failures and the final seal of approval before a robot enters the field.

Responsibilities

  • Feature Integration & Hardening: Take newly developed “alpha” capabilities and engineer them for real-world robustness through stress testing, edge-case handling, and reliability improvements.
  • System Triage & Root Cause Analysis: Act as the primary investigator for complex system failures by analyzing field logs to distinguish between software bugs, sensor noise, and hardware faults, resolving issues directly or routing them to the appropriate domain experts.
  • Field Deployment & Fleet Support: Participate directly in robot deployments, define go/no-go criteria for software releases, and help manage configuration and software health across a growing robot fleet.
  • Developer Tooling & Automation: Build scripts, CLI tools, and visualizations that improve team velocity—ranging from teleoperation tooling and automated log analysis to CI/CD enhancements that catch regressions before deployment.

Requirements

  • Education: B.S. or M.S. in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience: 2+ years of professional experience in robotics, autonomous vehicles, drones, or complex embedded systems, with a demonstrated track record of deploying physical hardware products into the field.
  • Programming Proficiency: Strong command of both C++ and Python, with the ability to read, debug, and write production-level C++ for core robot systems, alongside robust Python tooling.
  • Linux Systems Expertise: Deep comfort working in Linux environments, including system administration, networking configuration, and bash scripting.
  • Debugging Mindset: Proven ability to trace failures from high-level behavioral issues down to low-level causes such as sensor drivers, timing issues, or network faults.
  • Requires 5 days/week in-office collaboration with the teams.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Outdoor Robotics Experience: Background in autonomous driving, drones, or robotics systems deployed in outdoor or unstructured environments.
  • Infrastructure Familiarity: Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or CI/CD pipelines.
  • Visualization & Diagnostics: Experience building dashboards or tools for system and fleet visualization (e.g., Grafana, Foxglove, or custom web interfaces).

Benefits

  • Competitive stock options/equity programs.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) plan.
  • Visa sponsorship and green card support for qualified candidates.
  • Lunches and dinners, a fully stocked kitchen, and regular team-building events.
