Field Operations Lead - Robotics
Why RoboForce
RoboForce is an AI robotics company developing Physical AI–powered Robo-Labor for dull, dirty, and dangerous work. Our robots are engineered for demanding outdoor environments, with a focus on real-world deployment and scalability.
The Role
As our first Field Operations Lead - Robotics, you own everything that happens after the robot leaves the lab. You'll lead deployments, hold the line on reliability, and serve as the critical link between real-world performance and the team building the next generation of our systems.
This role sits at the center of RoboForce's growth. You'll work shoulder-to-shoulder with world-class AI and robotics engineers, and alongside experienced business leaders who have scaled deep tech companies globally. The standards you build will define how we scale from a handful of sites to deployments everywhere.
Starting with senior individual contributor role, you'll have the opportunity to build and lead the global field team behind it all. The right person is equal parts technical expert, field operator, and trusted customer partner.
Responsibilities
- Deploy & Commission: Lead end-to-end onsite deployments and ensure systems are production-ready under real operating conditions.
- Diagnose & Resolve: Own triage and resolution of complex field failures across hardware and software. Deliver structured findings that Engineering can act on — you close loops, not just escalate them.
- Monitor & Improve: Track field performance and translate what you see in the field into product and engineering priorities. Your observations directly influence what gets built next.
- Build the Foundation: Develop the deployment procedures, playbooks, and standards that will scale with us globally. You're not inheriting a playbook — you're writing it.
- Partner with Customers & Leadership: Represent RoboForce on-site with credibility and composure. Build trust with customers and communicate clearly with internal stakeholders at all levels.
Requirements
- Experience: 5-8+ years in field engineering, systems integration, or technical operations, with hands-on experience deploying complex hardware systems in real-world environments.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Technical Depth: Strong foundation in both hardware and software — comfortable working across the full system when things break. This is not a pure software role.
- Problem Solving: You trace failures to their source, not their symptom. Sharp diagnostic instincts across the hardware-software boundary.
- Ownership Mindset: Self-directed, accountable, and comfortable making sound decisions without a playbook. You set the execution standard in your area.
- Communication: Structured and direct — clear about what's broken, what's needed, and what happens next. Equally effective with engineers and customers.
- Travel & Field Readiness: Willing to travel up to ~75% domestically and internationally. Comfortable operating in demanding outdoor and industrial environments.
Bonus Qualifications
- Prior experience with autonomous robotic systems or deployed fleets.
- Background in scaling field or technical operations across multiple sites.
- Experience working in or alongside fast-moving deep tech or robotics companies.
Benefits
- Competitive stock options/equity programs.
- Health, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) plan.
- Visa sponsorship and green card support for qualified candidates.
- Lunches and dinners, a fully stocked kitchen, and regular team-building events.
