Data Architect

Location: Lviv, Ukraine 

Robots & Pencils is seeking a Data Architect / Platform Engineer (L4) to help build the data foundation of a modern, unified digital experience platform for a large multi-venue hospitality and entertainment organization. 

You will lead the design, implementation, and optimization of scalable data pipelines, platform services, and integrations that power personalized guest journeys, real-time itinerary orchestration, and seamless cross-property experiences. This role requires close collaboration with architects, backend/front-end engineers, data engineers, and product teams to deliver complete, end-to-end product slices in a highly complex and high-visibility program. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

Data Architecture & Platform Engineering 

• Design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performance data pipelines for web, mobile, and kiosk applications. 

• Develop data models and platform services that integrate multiple legacy and third-party systems. 

• Architect the Customer Data Platform and middleware/API layer using MuleSoft, ensuring smooth flow of real-time and batch data. 

• Enable personalization, cross-property orchestration, and event-driven guest experiences. 

Integration & API Strategy 

• Define data contracts and API specifications for backend, frontend, and third-party system integrations. 

• Collaborate with front-end teams (React/Next.js) and CMS platforms (Contentful) to ensure consistent, reliable data delivery. 

• Support integration of analytics, reporting, and operational systems into the platform. 

Cloud-Native & Platform Reliability 

• Design cloud-native services with focus on scalability, observability, and security. 

• Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting to ensure platform reliability and performance. 

• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automation, and platform lifecycle improvements. 

Cross-Functional Collaboration 

• Partner with architects, designers, data engineers, backend/frontend developers, and product managers to deliver cohesive product slices. 

• Participate in design reviews, sprint planning, and technical discussions. 

• Advocate for data quality, governance, and platform best practices across distributed teams. 

 

Required Skills & Qualifications 

• 7+ years of experience in data architecture, platform engineering, or large-scale system design. 

• Strong expertise in cloud-native architecture (Azure, AWS, or GCP). 

• Experience designing data pipelines, event-driven systems, and data integration frameworks. 

• Proficiency with API architecture, middleware, and customer data platforms (CDPs). 

• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, data modeling, and query optimization. 

• Familiarity with Vercel, MuleSoft, and Contentful or similar modern platform technologies. 

• Upper-Intermediate English. 

 

Nice to Have 

• Experience in hospitality or customer-centric platforms. 

• Knowledge of real-time streaming and event processing (Kafka, Pub/Sub, Event Hub). 

• Background in cross-channel personalization or identity systems. 

• Experience with multi-venue, distributed enterprise systems.
