Director, Music Licensing

As Director, Music Licensing you’ll be responsible for managing all aspects of music licensing for various business clients. This includes handling rights management, securing licensing agreements with artists, labels, and publishers, and ensuring compliance with performance rights organizations (PROs). You will work closely with cross-functional teams to facilitate music solutions that align with client needs and support business growth.

You will:
- Oversee the acquisition and management of music licenses for use in client environments, ensuring compliance with copyright laws.
- Negotiate agreements with labels, publishers, and performance rights organizations including, ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, and GMR.
- Manage relationships with global content providers and collective management organizations (CMOs).
- Provide consultation to clients on licensing needs and develop customized music solutions.
- Own monthly and quarterly reporting to content partners and rights holders.
- Collaborate with legal, sales, and product teams to support new products and features as well as sales and marketing campaigns.
- Stay updated on industry trends, legal changes, and emerging licensing opportunities.
- Support licensing of other IP including images, metadata, and other content sources.
You have:
- A Bachelor’s Degree: Preferred in music business, entertainment law, or a related field such as business administration, intellectual property, or communications. A J.D. (Juris Doctor) is highly valued, especially for negotiating legal agreements and ensuring copyright compliance.
- 10+ years of proven experience in music licensing, preferably in a media, entertainment, or technology company.
- Strong knowledge of licensing agreements, rights management, and the workings of PROs.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
- Ability to analyze licensing data and provide insights for business strategy.
- Familiarity with global music licensing practices and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Compensation:
Rockbot takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location in the U.S. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
The compensation band for this role is $150k to $200k, as well as equity, and benefits for all team members.
