Director, Finance & Billing Operations

Remote

We are seeking our first Director, Finance & Billing Operations to join Rockbot, bringing a passion for operational excellence, systems design, and scalable revenue infrastructure.

As Rockbot continues transforming how revenue flows through the business with Salesforce, MuleSoft, and Ironclad, this role will play a critical role in connecting the dots behind the scenes. You’ll help translate contracts, orders, and customer activity into accurate billing, collections, and revenue reporting.

This role is ideal for someone who is a natural builder, enjoys solving complex operational challenges, and takes pride in creating scalable systems that make life easier for both customers and internal teams. You’ll inherit a billing environment supporting more than 12,000 customers across SaaS subscriptions, usage-based services, enterprise contracts, hardware, professional services, and advertising products. You’ll have the opportunity to bring structure, automation, and operational excellence to a function undergoing meaningful transformation.

You Will:

Lead Billing & Accounts Receivable Operations

  • Own end-to-end billing, invoicing, collections, and payment reconciliation across all customer segments and revenue streams.
  • Manage billing operations for SaaS subscriptions, usage-based services, enterprise contracts, hardware, professional services, and advertising products.
  • Establish scalable billing policies, controls, workflows, and documentation.
  • Drive collections performance, cash flow optimization, and DSO improvement.
  • Partner with Accounting on month-end close, reconciliations, revenue reporting, and audit support.
  • Manage Avalara sales tax compliance and exemption processing.
  • Own billing support operations, identify recurring issues, and drive long-term process improvements.

Design and Improve Quote-to-Cash Processes

  • Partner closely with Sales, RevOps, Finance, GTM Systems, and Engineering to refine billing processes as upstream systems mature.
  • Define billing triggers, operational handoffs, and data requirements that support accurate invoicing and reporting.
  • Identify and resolve data quality issues that create downstream billing and collections challenges.
  • Improve workflows supporting complex customer structures, including enterprise, government, education, multi-location, and franchise-style accounts.
  • Continuously evaluate opportunities to improve automation, scalability, and operational efficiency.

Own and Optimize NetSuite

NetSuite is Rockbot’s system of record for billing, accounts receivable, and revenue reporting. You will serve as the primary business owner and subject matter expert.

  • Configure and maintain billing workflows, invoice templates, payment terms, revenue schedules, saved searches, dashboards, and automation.
  • Design solutions for complex billing scenarios, including:
    • SaaS subscriptions
    • Consumption and usage-based billing
    • Hardware and inventory-related billing
    • Professional services
    • Enterprise PO-based contracts
    • Multi-element arrangements
    • Prepaid, ratable, and event-based revenue models
  • Define system requirements, document solutions, and partner with technical teams on implementation.
  • Support integrations between Salesforce, Mulesoft, and NetSuite to ensure accurate and scalable billing operations.
  • Evaluate system enhancements and process improvements based on business impact and operational efficiency.

Deliver Reporting & Business Insights

  • Own billing and revenue reporting, including ARR, MRR, deferred revenue, collections performance, and operational KPIs.
  • Manage license and royalty reporting requirements for content providers and strategic partners.
  • Build dashboards and reporting that provide visibility into billing accuracy, collections performance, DSO, and operational health.
  • Deliver actionable insights that improve decision-making and support company growth.

You Have:

  • 8+ years of experience in Billing Operations, Finance Operations, Revenue Operations, or Order-to-Cash functions within a B2B SaaS or technology environment.
  • 5+ years managing a billing, finance operations, revenue operations, or order-to-cash function.
  • Deep hands-on NetSuite expertise (4+ years). This role requires someone who has personally configured billing workflows, revenue schedules, automation, saved searches, dashboards, and reporting within NetSuite—not someone who has only partnered with administrators or consultants.
  • Demonstrated experience billing across multiple revenue streams, including SaaS subscriptions, consumption-based billing, hardware, professional services, advertising, and enterprise contracts.
  • Experience operating in complex billing environments supporting large customer populations, multi-location account structures, and multiple revenue models simultaneously.
  • Ability to define system requirements, document solutions, and partner with technical teams to implement scalable processes and workflows.
  • Strong working knowledge of Salesforce as the upstream source of contract and order data.
  • Solid understanding of ASC 606, deferred revenue, revenue schedules, and billing-to-GL reconciliation.
  • Strong analytical, operational, and problem-solving skills with a track record of improving processes and systems.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders across Finance, Sales, RevOps, Product, and Engineering.

Preferred

  • Experience with Avalara or similar tax automation platforms.
  • Familiarity with Mulesoft or similar integration technologies.
  • Experience with Tableau or other BI tools
  • Experience with Ironclad or another contract lifecycle management platform.
  • Background in media, advertising, content, music, or licensing-driven businesses.
  • Experience supporting multi-unit, franchise, enterprise, or location-based customer models.

Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
