Test Engineer
About the Role
As a Test Engineer at Rocket EMS, you play a critical role in ensuring the performance, reliability, and compliance of Class 3 aerospace PCB assemblies, where failure is not an option. You will be responsible for developing, executing, and supporting in-circuit, functional, and system-level test strategies that verify assemblies meet stringent customer, regulatory, and internal quality requirements. This role demands deep attention to detail, disciplined execution, and a strong understanding of aerospace-grade electronics manufacturing.
You will work closely with Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering teams to support both NPI and high-reliability production builds, ensuring test coverage, traceability, and repeatability across all programs.
Key Responsibilities
-
Review and interpret travelers, MPIs, ECOs, drawings, and customer specifications with a strong focus on IPC-A-610 Class 3 aerospace requirements.
-
Develop, execute, and support ICT, functional, boundary scan, and system-level test processes for complex PCB assemblies.
-
Perform electrical, functional, and performance verification to ensure assemblies meet all Class 3 aerospace quality, reliability, and workmanship standards.
-
Analyze test failures, isolate root causes, and collaborate with Engineering and Rework teams to drive effective debug and corrective actions.
-
Ensure all test equipment, fixtures, and programs are properly validated, calibrated, and controlled per aerospace and internal quality standards.
-
Accurately document test results, failures, deviations, and corrective actions to maintain full traceability and audit readiness.
-
Enforce strict adherence to ESD, MSD, safety, and handling protocols required for high-reliability aerospace hardware.
-
Support NPIs, engineering builds, and first-article validations by providing test feedback, coverage assessments, and risk identification.
-
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on test yield, coverage, throughput, and long-term product reliability.
-
Provide clear daily pass-downs and technical communication to leads, supervisors, quality, and engineering teams.
Qualifications
Education
-
High school diploma or equivalent (required).
-
Technical degree or coursework in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field (preferred).
Experience
-
1–3 years of experience in electronics manufacturing test, preferably in aerospace, defense, or other high-reliability industries.
-
Hands-on experience with ICT, functional test, boundary scan, or system-level testing.
-
Experience supporting Class 3 assemblies or regulated manufacturing environments strongly preferred.
Skills
-
Solid understanding of electronics theory and complex PCB assemblies.
-
Working knowledge of IPC-A-610 Class 3 workmanship and quality expectations.
-
Proficiency with multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and other diagnostic instruments.
-
Ability to read and interpret schematics, test procedures, and engineering documentation.
-
Strong documentation discipline and attention to detail.
-
Basic computer proficiency (Excel, Word, Outlook) for data analysis and reporting.
-
Effective communicator able to collaborate across Test, Engineering, Quality, and Operations.
Benefits
-
401(k) with company match
-
Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance
-
Paid time off
-
Career growth opportunities in advanced, Class 3 aerospace electronics manufacturing
Schedule
-
8-hour shifts, Monday–Friday
-
