Position Summary

The Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer serves as the senior technical resource and site-level infrastructure lead within the San Jose IT End User Services organization.

This role is responsible for the hands-on engineering, administration, support, and lifecycle management of site infrastructure, NAS storage, endpoint technologies, manufacturing technology, physical network infrastructure, facility technology, monitoring, and infrastructure recovery readiness.

The Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer serves as a key technical liaison between the San Jose site and specialized enterprise technology teams, including Network Engineering, Server Engineering, Automation, Backup & Recovery, Cybersecurity, and IAM. The role works closely with these teams to implement, support, troubleshoot, and maintain reliable and secure technology services while maintaining clear ownership boundaries.

The position combines hands-on technical execution with technical leadership, advanced troubleshooting, project leadership, vendor coordination, infrastructure planning, and critical incident response. The individual will support both corporate and manufacturing environments and must be comfortable working across office, manufacturing, warehouse, and construction environments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Technical Leadership and Escalation Management

• Serve as the senior Tier 2/3 technical escalation point for complex infrastructure, endpoint, storage, manufacturing technology, facility technology, AV, collaboration, and site technology issues.

• Lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution of critical incidents affecting business and manufacturing operations.

• Serve as the primary site-level technical advisor and subject matter expert for the IT End User Services organization.

• Provide technical mentoring, guidance, and knowledge transfer to IT support personnel and other technical resources.

• Establish and maintain site-level technical standards, operating procedures, documentation, and best practices.

• Provide technical leadership during major incidents, infrastructure changes, facility projects, manufacturing deployments, and technology implementations.

• Represent San Jose site requirements, technical dependencies, and infrastructure needs to enterprise engineering teams.

• Maintain clear ownership and escalation boundaries between site infrastructure responsibilities and enterprise technology functions.

Infrastructure and Endpoint Engineering

• Design, implement, maintain, and support infrastructure solutions for corporate and manufacturing environments.

• Manage and support Windows-based endpoint environments, Active Directory, Group Policy, Microsoft 365, Azure-connected technologies, and modern endpoint management platforms.

• Administer Microsoft Intune, including device provisioning, zero-touch deployments, software deployment, patch management, compliance, and device lifecycle management.

• Provide advanced desktop and workstation support for executive, engineering, manufacturing, and specialized user communities.

• Develop technical solutions and infrastructure standards aligned with business requirements, security standards, reliability objectives, and future growth.

• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements that increase reliability, security, scalability, and operational efficiency.

• Work closely with Server Engineering on server infrastructure deployments, troubleshooting, storage dependencies, capacity requirements, hardware lifecycle activities, and infrastructure changes.

• Provide infrastructure-level support to server environments without assuming primary responsibility for enterprise server administration.

NAS and Storage Administration

• Directly administer and support enterprise NAS storage systems.

• Manage NAS storage provisioning, capacity, utilization, performance, availability, and health.

• Administer storage shares, storage configurations, and access requirements within established security and access standards.

• Manage NAS hardware, disk configurations, RAID, firmware, and storage lifecycle activities.

• Monitor storage performance and capacity and proactively address utilization, performance, and availability issues.

• Coordinate with Server Engineering on server-to-NAS connectivity, application dependencies, storage requirements, capacity planning, and infrastructure changes.

• Coordinate NAS vendor support, hardware replacements, warranty/RMA activities, and technical escalations.

• Maintain accurate storage documentation, configurations, diagrams, asset records, and operational procedures.

• Coordinate with Backup & Recovery teams to ensure critical NAS-hosted data is appropriately protected and recoverable.

Physical Network Infrastructure and Cabling

• Serve as the site technical lead for physical network infrastructure and structured cabling.

• Coordinate installation, expansion, modification, testing, and maintenance of copper and fiber network cabling.

• Support MDF and IDF infrastructure, racks, patch panels, cable management, labeling, and physical connectivity.

• Review cabling requirements, low-voltage designs, installation plans, rack layouts, pathways, and physical infrastructure requirements.

• Lead network cabling installation activities for new construction, facility expansions, office renovations, manufacturing equipment deployments, and technology projects.

• Coordinate cabling contractors, low-voltage vendors, installers, Facilities, construction teams, and Network Engineering throughout project planning and implementation.

• Ensure cabling installations are properly tested, certified, labeled, documented, and transitioned into operational support.

• Maintain accurate documentation of physical network infrastructure, cabling, MDF/IDF layouts, and related site technology.

• Work closely with Network Engineering to ensure physical infrastructure supports enterprise network architecture and connectivity requirements.

• Troubleshoot physical connectivity and infrastructure issues in coordination with Network Engineering.

• This position does not have primary responsibility for enterprise network administration, including routing, switching, firewall, wireless controller, or other enterprise network device administration.

Manufacturing Technology and Operational Technology

• Serve as the primary site IT infrastructure resource supporting manufacturing systems and operational technology environments.

• Partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations, Cybersecurity, Network Engineering, and other technical teams to deliver reliable and secure technology solutions supporting production operations.

• Support infrastructure connectivity and integration for manufacturing equipment, barcode scanners, industrial devices, IoT platforms, production systems, and shop-floor technology.

• Support infrastructure dependencies for manufacturing applications and systems, including production workstations, MES or production systems where applicable, barcode and labeling systems, and related technology.

• Troubleshoot infrastructure and technology issues impacting manufacturing operations and implement preventive solutions.

• Participate in manufacturing equipment deployments, facility expansions, production technology initiatives, and technology modernization projects.

• Serve as the local technical liaison between Manufacturing/Engineering and enterprise technology teams.

• Support production uptime by identifying infrastructure risks, recurring issues, and technology dependencies.

OT Cybersecurity and IT/OT Segmentation

• Partner with Cybersecurity, Network Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and other technical teams to support secure IT/OT environments.

• Support implementation and maintenance of IT/OT segmentation in accordance with enterprise security architecture and standards.

• Ensure manufacturing technology deployments follow established cybersecurity and infrastructure requirements.

• Support vulnerability remediation and security improvement activities affecting site infrastructure and OT-connected technology.

• Coordinate secure connectivity and vendor access requirements for manufacturing and operational technology.

• Support identification and documentation of OT technology assets, infrastructure dependencies, and connectivity requirements.

• Participate in cybersecurity incident response and remediation activities affecting site infrastructure and manufacturing technology.

Backup, Recovery, and Business Continuity

• Serve as the San Jose site technical owner for infrastructure backup and recovery requirements in coordination with the enterprise Backup & Recovery team.

• Define and maintain appropriate Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) for critical site infrastructure, NAS data, and manufacturing technology.

• Ensure critical site systems and data have appropriate backup and recovery coverage.

• Monitor backup status and coordinate remediation of backup failures or protection gaps with the Backup & Recovery team.

• Coordinate periodic recovery testing and validation activities.

• Maintain and update site-specific recovery procedures and technical recovery documentation.

• Identify infrastructure recovery risks and coordinate corrective actions with appropriate enterprise technical teams.

• Participate in disaster recovery and business continuity planning for critical site operations.

Infrastructure Monitoring and Alerting

• Maintain visibility into the health, availability, performance, capacity, and operational status of critical site infrastructure.

• Configure and maintain infrastructure monitoring and alerting in coordination with enterprise monitoring and engineering teams.

• Monitor NAS/storage, infrastructure dependencies, endpoints, facility technology, and other critical site technology within the role’s scope.

• Review alerts and system health indicators and proactively identify potential infrastructure issues.

• Tune monitoring and alerting to improve accuracy, reduce unnecessary alerts, and ensure appropriate escalation.

• Establish and maintain escalation procedures for critical infrastructure events.

• Analyze recurring alerts and infrastructure issues and implement permanent corrective actions.

Facility Technology and Project Leadership

• Serve as the IT technical lead for new building construction, facility expansions, office renovations, manufacturing site deployments, and technology projects.

• Define and validate technology requirements for structured cabling, MDF/IDF infrastructure, conference rooms, digital signage, IoT solutions, manufacturing technology, and related infrastructure.

• Review low-voltage designs, construction drawings, MDF/IDF layouts, cabling plans, rack layouts, and infrastructure plans.

• Coordinate with architects, contractors, Facilities, construction teams, consultants, technology vendors, and enterprise engineering teams throughout project lifecycles.

• Lead technology projects from planning and design through implementation, testing, documentation, and operational turnover.

• Coordinate technical requirements, schedules, dependencies, installations, and vendor activities.

• Ensure technology projects are delivered within defined scope, schedule, technical requirements, and operational standards.

Vendor and Contractor Management

• Serve as the technical point of contact for infrastructure technology vendors, NAS/storage vendors, cabling contractors, low-voltage installers, AV vendors, and other technology service providers.

• Define technical requirements and evaluate vendor proposals, statements of work, and implementation plans.

• Coordinate vendor installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and escalation activities.

• Manage vendor technical escalations, RMAs, warranty activities, and service issues.

• Validate completed work against technical requirements and established standards.

• Coordinate vendor access to corporate, manufacturing, and construction environments.

• Maintain appropriate vendor documentation and technical records.

Service Ownership and Continuous Improvement

• Monitor infrastructure health, availability, performance, and operational metrics.

• Analyze recurring incidents and implement permanent corrective actions.

• Drive automation, standardization, and continuous improvement initiatives in coordination with the enterprise Automation team.

• Identify opportunities to improve infrastructure reliability, supportability, security, and operational efficiency.

• Develop and maintain SOPs, runbooks, knowledge base articles, infrastructure diagrams, recovery procedures, and technical documentation.

• Maintain accurate infrastructure, storage, cabling, asset, and configuration documentation.

• Promote operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and service reliability across supported environments.

On-Call and After-Hours Support

• Participate in scheduled after-hours maintenance, technology deployments, facility projects, manufacturing shutdown activities, and critical incident support as required.

• Participate in the site’s on-call or escalation process, where applicable.

• Respond to critical infrastructure and manufacturing technology incidents requiring support outside normal business hours.

• Coordinate with appropriate enterprise engineering teams during critical incidents and after-hours events.

• Support planned maintenance activities necessary to minimize disruption to business and manufacturing operations.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred.

• 8+ years of progressive experience in Infrastructure Engineering, Systems Administration, Enterprise IT Support, or related technical roles.

• 5+ years of experience supporting manufacturing environments and manufacturing technology preferred.

• Proven experience leading infrastructure projects, technology deployments, upgrades, and implementations.

• Experience supporting facility construction, office expansions, manufacturing site deployments, and structured cabling projects preferred.

• Demonstrated experience administering enterprise NAS/storage environments.

• Experience coordinating technology vendors, contractors, and external service providers.

• Experience working in cross-functional environments with Network Engineering, Server Engineering, Cybersecurity, Backup & Recovery, Automation, Facilities, and Manufacturing teams.

Physical Requirements

The Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer is a senior technical leader within the San Jose IT End User Services organization and serves as the primary site-level technical resource for infrastructure and manufacturing technology.

The role maintains direct responsibility for designated site infrastructure functions while partnering with specialized enterprise teams for network engineering, server engineering, automation, backup and recovery, cybersecurity, IAM, and other enterprise technology services.

The position is expected to maintain clear technical ownership boundaries, provide effective cross-functional coordination, and ensure that technology services supporting corporate and manufacturing operations are reliable, secure, scalable, and operationally effective.
