MANAGER, REGIONAL SECURITY 

The Manager. Regional Security is responsible for leading the delivery of physical security services for the protection of our assets (premises, possessions, people and infrastructure). Their focus is delivering tactical preparedness, readiness, and responsiveness. The Manager, Regional Security will also provide the physical security team with a clear sense of direction, creating a positive and supportive team culture in which all members collaboratively strive to deliver gold standard security. This position will be 100% On-Site (not Remote nor Hybrid) based out of a Rocket Lab regional office in either Middle River, MD or Wallops Island, VA.  

WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO: 

  • Lead physical security monitoring and response operations at regional Rocket Lab facilities (Silver Springs, MD, Middle River, MD, Wallops Island, VA, Stennis, MS, and Toronto, Canada).  
  • Ownership of security systems including CCTV, access control, and intruder detection systems, and coordination of provider maintenance, repair and enhancements.
  • Leadership, training and supervision of the Contract Security Officer teams and collaterally trained Rocket Lab personnel to ensure qualified 24/7 coverage of regional offices.
  • Implementation of physical security requirements to include policy review and compliance.
  • Evaluate security threats, coordinate a calculated response, and prepare the associated written reports.  
  •  Maintain security processes and procedures including visitor control, launch services, space structure movements. 
  • Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Physical Security you will function as the regional representative for the Global Security group. In this role you will assist with the implementation of new policy, plans or procedures in the support of commercial, U.S. Department of Defense, and/or Intelligence Community programs. 
  • Support Global Program Security in the development and delivery of enterprise security training, education, training and awareness (SETA).
  • Partner with Rocket Lab team members in People & Culture, Facilities, EHS and Finance to drive a unified approach to attaining exceptional results.

YOU’LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of security industry experience -OR- high school diploma and 12+ years of security industry experience.
  • 5+ years of proven experience in security industry direct line management.
  • Proficient in the use of digital tools including the Microsoft Suite, physical security industry suites, and web-based applications.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance. The applicant must be able to maintain clearance eligibility.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Experience leading risk assessment, incident management and investigations.
  • Experience in team building, cross functional team leadership, conflict resolution and dealing with difficult people.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality while performing in highly sensitive roles and missions.
  • Willingness to travel (airplane, car/truck, or sea vessel) on short notice between regional sites (25% travel).

THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE: 

  • Currently possesses active TS/SCI clearance
  • Security experience in classified space structures transportation and launch services
  • Specialized training in Use of Force, threat assessment, emergency management and response, ICS communications, fire safety, business continuity, First-Aid/CPR or EMT
  • Military or law enforcement training and experience
  • Certifications or advanced experience programming or troubleshooting access control and CCTV systems
  • Experience in a start-up environment.

ADA Requirements

  • Vision – Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus while reading a computer monitor, interpreting hazardous material warnings, access control signage and safety statements on industrial equipment.
  • Environmental - Occasional exposure to dust, fumes and moderate levels of noise. Must be able to properly wear various personal protective equipment (PPE) in areas where dust, chemicals, or industrial noise or other hazards are present.  
  • Mobility - Must be physically able to commute to buildings. Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, operate computer keyboard and controls, and communicate verbally and in writing. Must be able to lift/carry items weighing up to 35lbs unassisted, intermittently stand for periods of time not to exceed two (2) consecutive hours, sit in an office environment for periods of time not to exceed four (4) consecutive hours, walk across uneven surfaces, climb ladders or stairs.

Level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base Pay Range (MD Only)

$85,000 - $160,000 USD
