ABOUT THE TEAM: 

Rocket Lab is a global leader in space exploration, and our Neutron rocket is at the cutting edge of aerospace technology. The Neutron Upper Module is the most diverse part of Neutron, incorporating fluidic components, avionics, carbon structures, mechanical actuators, and aerodynamic surfaces. YOUR MISSION:

 As a Development Engineering Intern at Rocket Lab’s Auckland site, you will have the unique opportunity to work closely with experienced test engineers on the Neutron upper module. This role will immerse you in the exciting world of rocket development, where you will be involved in setting up, designing, calibrating, planning, and troubleshooting test campaigns. These campaigns include, but are not limited to:

• Full scale stage separation
• Canard actuation
• Fairing actuation
• Structural testing of the fairing

Joining the Neutron team means you will play a crucial role in launching a new large rocket for the very first time!

Key Responsibilities:

• Test Campaign Setup: Assist in the setup and design of test campaigns for the Neutron upper module.
• Calibration and Planning: Work on calibrating equipment and planning detailed test procedures.
• Troubleshooting: Collaborate with experienced engineers to troubleshoot and resolve issues during test campaigns.
• Hands-On Experience: Gain practical, hands-on experience in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Current student in good academic standing in one of the following fields: Aerospace / Aeronautical / Astronautical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering 
• Demonstrated passion for rocketry and aerospace
• Excellent communication and problem-solving ability

REQUIREMENT: 

Available to work full-time, on-site for a minimum of 12 consecutive weeks beginning November 2025.
