ABOUT THE TEAM:

Rocket Lab is a global leader in space exploration, and our Neutron rocket is at the cutting edge of aerospace technology. The Neutron Upper Module is the most diverse part of Neutron, incorporating fluidic components, avionics, carbon structures, mechanical actuators, and aerodynamic surfaces. As an intern, you will have the unique opportunity to work across all these systems, enhancing their performance and contributing to the future of space travel.

YOUR MISSION:

 As a Neutron Upper Module Mechanisms Intern, your primary task will be to design, test and build large and complex mechanisms and actuators. This could involve CAD, constructing test rigs, running tests, processing data. Your key responsibilities will include:

1. Performance Improvement: Identify and implement improvements in manufacturability, integration processes, mechanical design, and testing procedures for Upper Module components.

2. Develop Acceptance Test Processes: Create acceptance test processes for all actuators across Neutron. Develop test procedures for structural components and integration tasks, such as avionics and pneumatic systems integration.

3. Build Test Processes and Hardware: Develop and build all test processes and hardware for the acceptance testing of actuators. Create test procedures for structural campaigns.

4. Improve Traceability: Enhance the traceability of Upper Module components to ensure quality and reliability.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Current Student enrolled in Aerospace/Aeronautical/Astronautical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.

Experience with:

  • Documentation
  • Instrumentation
  • Python
  • Siemens NX
  • SolidWorks
  • Test Engineering
  • Computer-Aided Design and Manufacturing (CAD/CAM)
  • Harnessing
  • National Instruments

REQUIREMENT:

Available to work full-time, on-site for a minimum of 12 consecutive weeks beginning November 2025.
