Rocket Lab’s IT team is responsible for how our global teams access information and run operations across our computer systems, networks, and devices. Our hardworking IT team is a group of flexible problem-solvers working in a fast-paced environment but who also thrive under the challenge of supporting all of our proprietary systems and people, from finance to launch operations.

IT SUPPORT SPECIALIST

As an IT Support Specialist based onsite at Rocket Lab’s Head Quarters you will have the opportunity to support our global teams by ensuring seamless access to information and smooth operation of our computer systems, networks, and devices. In this role, you will provide day-to-day IT support, interact positively with staff, and play a key role in onboarding new hires to ensure productivity from day one.  This role is ideal for someone seeking fast-tracked career progression, exposure to multiple technologies, and the opportunity to be a valued member of a vibrant, collaborative IT team.  A natural curiosity and a drive to continuously learn are essential to be successful in this role.  

WHAT YOU'LL GET TO DO: 

• Carry out the day-to-day functions required to provide quality IT support and service by interacting positively with our staff, answering inquiries, and effectively handling complaints  
• Track and update support desk Incident, Request, Problem, and Change, Project tickets, and other documentation  
• You will be the point of contact for any onboarding of new hires to ensure they are setup and productive from day one  
• Participate in the Continuous Improvement Process; the ongoing effort to improve our service, IT Systems, and processes 
• This position may require flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and participation in an on-call rotation as needed

YOU'LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS:

• 2+ years’ experience in IT support and high school diploma or GED
• Exposure with most and solid operational experience in at least two of the following: 
  • Windows or Linux desktop operating systems (including imaging, maintenance, troubleshooting) 
  • PC hardware (including assembly and disassembly of desktop PCs) 
  • Understanding of networking infrastructure and basic troubleshooting (TCP/IP/DNS) 
  • A scripting language 
  • Active Directory and Group Policy  

THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE:

• Certifications in CompTIAA+ or ITIL 
• Experience with cloud-based technologies (Azure, AWS, O365)  
• Familiarity with virtualization technologies and public/private cloud environments 
• Familiarity with common AI platforms and the ability to write effective prompts, evaluate AI-generated outputs, and identify opportunities to leverage AI and automation to improve service delivery and operational efficiency 
• Experience with Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Ansible and Terraform  
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, able to see the big picture and make connections 
• Experience participating in and supporting a medium to complex, end‑to‑end IT project, in all phases from initial requirements gathering and planning through implementation, testing, stakeholder coordination, and ongoing operational support  

This position may require prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, computer work, and occasional exposure to moderate levels of noise, dust, and fumes in production areas.
