Rockstar Games is currently seeking a highly talented Pipeline Technical Artist focused on our varied automated/pipeline systems. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with our game development teams, across all development disciplines, and help drive our tools technology forward to support the development of various Rockstar Games projects.
The Pipeline Technical Artist role will focus on developing, maintaining and optimizing our automated systems used across multiple projects and platforms. This work involves dealing with our production animation teams’ workflows.
This is a full-time, in-office position based out of Rockstar’s NYC headquarters in Downtown Manhattan.
WHAT WE DO
- Design and build Automation pipelines for the Rockstar Animation department to process various types of content in Animation & Motion Capture space.
- Design technologies to improve Tech Art pipelines and keep up with a constantly growing content.
- Work closely with DevOps to improve Tech Art backend ecosystem.
- Perform general script and pipeline maintenance.
- Support Pipeline core code for the different Tech Art teams.
- Tackle day-to-day requests for improvements and bug fixes, actively supporting our products and stakeholders.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with the Technical Art and Tools team on a wide range of automation focused tasks within an established and evolving codebase.
- Actively support pre-existing pipelines and automations.
- Design, build, improve or optimize automations and pipelines for the Animation & Motion Capture department.
- Support building a growing backend stack.
- R&D pipeline, automation and backend technologies.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Python and/or C# knowledge is a prerequisite for the role.
- 3+ years of applicable professional experience as a Technical Artist/TD/Tools Programmer in videogames or film/VFX industry.
- Experience in designing, building and maintaining complex workflows and pipelines.
- Experience working with pre-existing proprietary or 3rd party automation systems/processes.
SKILLS
- Experience with Docker/Containers and Orchestration Systems (such as Kubernetes).
- Experience with Mongo/SQL or other non-relational/relational databases.
- Experience with Web APIs.
- Experience with CI/CD systems on GitHub or GitLab platforms.
- Strong communication, self-management, and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work within a schedule and deliver effectively to deadlines.
PLUSES
Please note that these are desirable skills and are not required to apply for the position.
- Experience with Rez or similar package managers.
- Experience with Kafka and event driven pipelines.
- Experience with Agile Scrum method.
- Experience using MotionBuilder and/or Maya as a technical artist/TD.
- Experience with FFMPEG Tool Suite or similar video/audio processing tools.

The pay range for this position in New York State (inclusive of New York City) at the start of employment is expected to be between the range below* per year. However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

$75,500 - $111,740 USD
