Rockstar Games is on the lookout for a Microsoft SQL Server Developer who possesses a passion for database development and optimization.
This is a full-time, in-office position based in Rockstar’s large game development studio in Bangalore, India.
WHAT WE DO
- The Rockstar Games Online Services Database Operations Team is a passionate development group, passionate about growing and maintaining the technology platform that powers Rockstar’s online titles and our ability to deliver outstanding player experiences.
- The Rockstar Database team provides development and operational support for critical platforms and services.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate within agile software development teams to build, develop, maintain, and improve database solutions using Microsoft SQL Server (2017 and above) for all of Rockstar Game’s products.
- Conduct periodic evaluations of existing T-SQL queries to identify issues and implement changes to increase query performance.
- Develop and maintain database documentation.
- Serve as database domain specialist, to internal teams, on the structure and content of relational databases.
- Work with Builds Engineering teams to improve database deployment automation.
- Participate in rotating on-call schedule to support database operations.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of shown ability developing in T-SQL stored procedures, functions, views etc.
- Experience building, altering, tuning and debugging large complex stored procedures.
- Experience with database design including referential integrity.
- Experience building large, high transaction, high availability database schemas.
- Experience working with Online Transaction Processing (OLTP).
SKILLS
- Advanced T-SQL DDL and DML skills.
- Good understanding of various types of indexes and best practices guidelines applying them.
- Experience with creating relational data models using SQL Server.
- Ability to resolve common database issues.
- Adept at solving intricate problems, strong analytical skills, and conduct root cause analysis on query performance issues.
- Knowledge of deployments and source control.
- Dedicated and self-directed; independent worker, self-starter, ability to work without direct supervision.
PLUSES
Please note that these are desirable skills and are not required to apply for the position.
- Knowledge of .NET/C#.
- Familiarity with NoSQL and big data technologies.
- Knowledge of SQL Server internals.
- Previous experience in a CI/CD environment.
