Why This Role Matters

We are looking for a Senior Legal Counsel to help shape a tech-driven legal function at a truly pivotal moment. Backed by Insight Partners and operating across 30+ countries, this is a rare opportunity to have a genuine strategic influence at a high-growth global SaaS company - not just a seat at the table, but a hand in building it.

You won’t just be giving advice - you will be an architect. This is a broad role covering everything from product compliance to data privacy and financial services regulation and commercial contracting, with particular depth in two areas: partnering with our Product & Tech team to navigate complex global regulations spanning 50 U.S. states and 30+ countries, and supporting ROLLER’s growing Financial Services product suite. You’ll do all of this while implementing the AI and legal-tech systems that allow a high-growth company to scale without friction.

 

What You'll Do

Product Compliance & Strategy

  • Act as a strategic partner to the Product & Tech team, providing legal counsel that balances technical compliance with commercial velocity.
  • Design and implement a scalable system to track and interpret regulatory changes across 30+ countries and 50 U.S. states
  • Manage a global network of local counsel to ensure international compliance, translating complex foreign laws into actionable product requirements.

Financial Services & FinTech

  • Provide lead counsel for ROLLER’s financial product suite, including Payment and Capital..
  • Navigate the intersection of technology and financial services regulation to support new product launches.

Data Privacy, Consumer and Competition Law

  • Partner with Security to support the implementation of the compliance framework for global data privacy (APP, GDPR, CCPA, etc.) and security.
  • Partner with the broader ROLLER business to support compliance with consumer protection and trade practices law in Australia and globally as we expand.

General & Growth Support

  • Support the broader Legal function on high-impact projects, including M&A, partnerships, SaaS contracting, and global leasing.
  • Procure and implement cutting-edge technology solutions to support the growth, accuracy, and efficiency of the Legal function.

 

About You

  • Qualified lawyer admitted to practice in Australia, England and Wales, or the United States. Dual qualification is a plus.
  • 8-12 years PQE, with meaningful in-house exposure alongside a strong private practice foundation - ideally from a tech-focused practice group.
  • Experience at a global or scaled SaaS or fintech company is highly valued - you’ll need breadth, not depth in one narrow area.
  • Commercial mindset where you understand that your job is to enable the business to move fast, not just manage risk.
  • System builder track record - you’ve built legal processes and playbooks from scratch and driven adoption across a business.
  • Genuine curiosity about AI and legal-tech; you don’t need to have mastered every tool, but you lean in, learn fast, and look for smarter ways to work.
