To accomplish this mission, Rondo is deploying low-cost, zero-carbon Rondo Heat Batteries to accelerate the deployment of renewable energy and to significantly decarbonize industrial processes that are commonly thought of as "difficult-to-decarbonize". Our Heat Batteries charge from intermittent renewables to provide high temperature, continuous heat for customers safely, reliably, at an unprecedented 98% efficiency - and at a cost point that is lower than any other method. 
 

We are looking for an experienced, customer-centric Product Cost Specialist to refine the systems Rondo uses to estimate the cost of its product line, identify and quantify opportunities for product cost optimization, and coordinate internal/external stakeholders in the development and communication of current and future product cost projections.

What You Will Do (key responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to): 

  • Cost estimation oversight for Rondo’s global product line 
  • Build & refine systems for documenting estimates of Rondo’s product costs  
  • Manage cost-estimate inputs from multiple stakeholders including supply chain, project development, project delivery and finance   
  • Make recommendations and action programs to reduce product cost uncertainty and improve estimates  
  • Collaborate to characterize the cost reduction potential of product cost ideas / programs 
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to identify potential areas for cost reduction, identify success requirements, lead the process of estimating program impacts     
  • Develop perspectives on the impact & cost implications of field-to-factory initiatives, identify, estimate and design potential paths to achieve initiatives         
  • Prepare scopes of work for sub-contractors to validate cost estimates, cost reduction programs and cost documentation systems  
  • Manage sub-contractors throughout assigned projects and communicate findings with internal stakeholders  
  • Conduct site visits to Rondo project sites, suppliers or potential customers  
  • Distribute and communicate of cost estimates across the organization  
  • Assist in building project proposals, identifying risk & uncertainty requirements and scaling estimates effectively to achieve business objectives    

What You Will Bring: 

  • Ability to understand industrial scale civil, mechanical and electrical systems and estimate costs associated with their design, procurement and construction. 
  • SME Knowledge of common industrial equipment / projects, including but not limited to: electrical systems, controls, wires, blowers, pumps, pipes, insulation, industrial buildings, HRSGs     
  • Knowledge of cost estimating systems or software 
  • Good understanding of typical work breakdown structures and industry rules of thumb / benchmarks                     
  • Strong ability to work in cross functional teams and manage stakeholders across multiple functions 
  • Comfort with uncertainty and ability to come up with high-level estimates and support them through research, expert validation and iterative problem solving  
  • Ability to draw meaningful conclusions from multiple sources of inputs  

 

Bonus Points! 

  • Experience across different teams i.e., cost estimation, supply chain, project development/delivery  
  • Experience in battery-related projects with strong understand of customer and delivery requirements

This role will be fully remote with frequent travel to our Alameda HQ and project sites. The compensation package will include a base salary plus equity in an early-stage, rapidly scaling global company. Additionally, you would be eligible for Rondo's excellent benefits listed above. Please note that some pay bands may have wide ranges of compensation to accommodate candidates' diverse sets of skill levels, experience, and geographic locations.
