Senior Accountant
About the role
Roo is looking for a join our growing Accounting team. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this role will be a key contributor in ensuring the integrity of our financial reporting, supporting our external audit procedures, and driving process improvements as we scale. The ideal candidate has strong technical accounting skills, operates independently with sound judgment, and proactively identifies opportunities to enhance processes and controls.
What You’ll Do
- Own key aspects of the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to a set close timeline.
- Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, financial schedules, and balance fluctuations to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, investigating variances and resolving discrepancies.
- Ownership of daily operations such as bill and credit card approvals, T&E approvals, banking, and assisting in the accounts receivable process.
- Support external audit readiness by preparing audit schedules, providing documentation, and addressing auditor inquiries.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with tax and regulatory filings, including sales tax, 1099 reporting, and other statutory requirements.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, enhance internal controls, and support scalability.
- Maintain accounting policies and procedures, ensuring consistency and alignment with best practices.
- Provide accounting support for special projects and cross-functional initiatives, including system implementations and process automation.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA or working towards CPA preferred).
- 3-5 years of accounting experience, with a mix of operational and technical accounting responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial statement preparation, and revenue recognition (ASC 606).
- Experience in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, ideally in tech, SaaS, or marketplace businesses.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership of tasks, and solve complex accounting issues with minimal oversight.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to translate accounting concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
- Prior experience with audit preparation and external financial reporting is a plus.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Excel; experience with NetSuite or similar ERP systems is a plus.

$85,000 - $110,000 USD
New York pay range
$85,000 - $110,000 USD
Washington pay range
$75,000 - $100,000 USD
Colorado pay range
$70,000 - $95,000 USD
Texas pay range
$70,000 - $95,000 USD
North Carolina pay range
$65,000 - $85,000 USD
