In 2022, we closed on our Series E, raising $240 million, and have offices in California, Texas, and New York as well as many remote opportunities. Our growth includes recent acquisitions of Stessa (financial and asset management software) RentPrep (tenant screening and placement service for landlords), and Mynd (property management platform for both Retail and Institutional investors).
About Your Role
As a Senior Software Engineer of Retail Growth, you will operate at the intersection of engineering, product, and marketing to drive the adoption and success of our Stessa and retail-focused applications. You’ll play a pivotal role in enhancing the entire customer lifecycle—from acquisition and activation to retention and monetization. In addition to hands-on technical development, you’ll contribute to our team culture, mentor junior engineers, and shape our growth strategies.
Responsibilities
- Rapidly develop and maintain scalable web applications using React, AWS, and Ruby on Rails.
- Collaborate with design, analytics, and other product teams to deliver exceptional user experiences.
- Ideate, design, and execute A/B and multivariate tests to optimize business outcomes and user experiences.
- Develop and maintain accurate product data flows across the full stack to support analytics and customer insight
- Ensure application performance, scalability, and security through proactive evaluation and improvement.
- Use CI/CD, Test Driven Development, and other best practices to ensure reliability and maintainability.
- Lead code reviews and mentor team members, fostering a culture of collaboration and technical excellence.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and trends, driving continuous improvement in our processes.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in web application development, including 3+ years focused on growth engineering and experimentation.
- Strong expertise in React, TypeScript, ES6+, and modern CSS.
- Experience designing, consuming, and producing RESTful APIs.
- Proficiency with database systems like PostgreSQL or MySQL, including database design.
- Proven track record of building, shipping, and supporting production web applications.
- Proven ability to balance team priorities, best practices, and speed to market across multiple teams.
- Familiarity with modern development tools and methodologies, including Git, CI/CD, and Agile frameworks.
- Excellent product management skills, including writing specs, creating mockups, and analyzing data.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and an entrepreneurial growth mindset.
- Effective communicator with the ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams.
- Experience leading projects from ideation to delivery, with a self-driven and ownership-oriented mindset.

(If hybrid in OAK) This position is classified as HYBRID within the Greater Oakland Area with an expectation to be in-office on Tuesdays and Thursdays weekly.

Compensation
$156,000 - $184,000 range on annual base salary. The compensation range may be adjusted based on experience and location.
Pay Transparency
Our compensation reflects several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position represents the expected salary for this position. Ultimately, in determining your pay it will be based on several factors including location, job-related knowledge, skills, experience and other job related factors. Roofstock is a total compensation company; the base salary is only a part of our total compensation package.
