Safety Specialist
What we do and why we do it
As the leading end-to-end investment platform for single-family rental homes (SFR), our mission is to reinvent the rental housing ecosystem for the benefit of all. We successfully merge our passion for helping investors build wealth through real estate with cutting edge technology that transforms the way they do it.
How it’s going (and growing)
With a talented team of 750+ Roofsters, our collaborative, can-do culture is what fuels our growth. In 2022, we closed on our Series E, raising $240 million, and have offices in the Bay Area and New York City. Our growth includes recent acquisitions of Stessa (financial and asset management software), RentPrep (tenant screening and placement service for landlords), and Mynd (property management platform for both Retail and Institutional investors). In 2025, Roofstock took an ownership stake in Casago (short-term rental management services), expanding our platform to support both long-term and short-term rental investment services.
About the Role
As Roofstock continues to scale its national footprint, we are seeking a Safety Specialist to serve as the chief architect of our physical safety culture and a key partner in supporting our fleet operations.
This is a safety-first role. You will develop, implement, and oversee a comprehensive workplace safety program for the organization, covering everything from OSHA compliance and incident investigation to field safety training and risk assessment. You will also contribute to fleet operations alongside Scott Lawrence and the Field Operations team, supporting vehicle compliance, driver safety, and vendor coordination. Your goal is to build a proactive, "Safety First" culture that protects every employee, whether they are in a vehicle, at a property, or in a warehouse, while contributing to efficient fleet stewardship.

- Risk Assessment: Conduct regular safety audits, property site inspections, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate environmental and physical hazards across all operating markets.
- Incident Investigation: Lead the response for all accidents, near-misses, and workplace injuries. Perform root-cause analysis and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Training & Education: Design and deliver safety training modules covering PPE usage, ladder safety, chemical handling, emergency preparedness, defensive driving, and topics surfaced by incident trends or regulatory changes.
- Compliance: Ensure the organization adheres to federal, state, and local regulations (OSHA General Industry, DOT, state-specific requirements) and maintain all required safety documentation and reporting (OSHA 300 logs, incident reports, training records).

- Compliance & Documentation: Support vehicle registration, emissions, and insurance compliance across all operating states. Help maintain centralized fleet records.
- Vendor Coordination: Serve as a point of contact for fleet vendors (WEX, Geotab, E-Fleet, leasing companies) alongside Field Operations leadership.
- Maintenance Support: Assist with preventative maintenance scheduling, invoice review, and repair coordination to minimize vehicle downtime.
- Data & Reporting: Contribute to monthly fleet and safety scorecards for leadership, covering safety stats, driver behavior trends, vehicle utilization, and maintenance costs.
