About the role
We are seeking an elite relationship manager and a market structure expert for a high-impact Business Development role. In this position, you will aggressively scale liquidity, volume, and open interest on Rothera’s platform across both new and established institutional and intermediary segments.
Key Responsibilities
External Business Development: New Counterpart Acquisition (60% - 70%)
- Net-New Pipeline Generation: Take ownership of identifying, sourcing, and executing agreements with participants not yet active on Rothera.
- Liquidity Provider Acquisition: Pitch Rothera’s value proposition to market makers to secure tight spreads and structural order book depth.
- Intermediaries: Sell into and onboard new Futures Commission Merchants (FCMs), clearing firms, and prime brokers to unlock access options for institutional clients.
- ISVs: Identify and structure partnership opportunities with ISVs (front, middle, and back office) to facilitate connectivity and services on Rothera to facilitate FCMs, Funds, and Market Makers.
Inside Business Development: Existing Account Optimization (30% - 40%)
- Maximize Wallet Share: Serve as the primary commercial relationship manager for onboarded market makers and participants, continuously driving higher trading volumes and deeper liquidity commitments.
- Cross-Selling & Expansion: Partner with existing accounts to drive adoption of newly launched event contracts, asset classes, and specific market-making incentive programs.
- Innovation Connectivity: Gather ongoing feedback from existing counterparts and curate those based on client priority and commercial opportunity for the product and clearing teams for engagement and analysis.
What you will do
- Lead a dual-focus commercial strategy: External Business Development and Internal / Inside Business Development.
- Aggressively source, pitch, and onboard new FCMs, institutional liquidity providers, systematic hedge funds, and proprietary trading firms, and key intermediaries.
- Own account management for the existing roster of counterparts.
- Deepen relationships and maximize wallet share with existing counterparts.
- Drive the adoption of new event contracts.
- Collaborate internally with clearing, product, and externally with joint-venture stakeholders, to ensure a seamless end-to-end commercial lifecycle.
What you’ll bring
- Experience: 10+ years of institutional business development, enterprise relationship management, or institutional sales experience within derivatives exchanges (e.g., CME, Cboe, ICE), institutional electronic trading vendors (e.g., Broadridge/Itiviti, Fidessa), or prime brokerage/principal trading groups.
- Relationships & Client Credibility: A proven track record of managing and expanding high-value accounts alongside originating new business within the global futures, options, and digital asset spaces.
- Account Management Mastery: Deep experience in understanding how to keep automated market makers continuously engaged, scaling their volumes, and addressing sophisticated trading and market structure issues.
- Market Structure Fluency: Strong command over exchange traded and cleared derivatives workflows, margin/collateral efficiencies, and CFTC-regulated frameworks (DCM, DCO, SEF).
- Technical Competency: Solid understanding of institutional trading tech stacks, FIX protocol connectivity, and Clearing/OEMS platforms.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field.
Benefits & Compensation:
This position has a base salary of $175,000 to $200,000 per year, plus participation in a discretionary annual incentive bonus program.
