About the role
The Director, Product Manager - Clearing is central to the successful implementation of the clearinghouse product roadmap. This role demands a holistic approach to product development, covering everything from strategic planning to practical execution.
What you’ll do
Leveraging your subject matter expertise in clearing within the context of a clearinghouse, your key responsibilities include managing and executing product delivery, working closely with clients, operations, risk, compliance and software engineers, from the initial concept through to launch of features and functionality for Rothera’s clearing platform.
Clearinghouse Product Development
- Drive end-to-end development and implementation of clearing services, regulatory reporting, and post-trade functionalities by collaborating across internal teams, operational departments, and clients to enhance Rothera's platform for listed and cleared derivative instruments.
- Partner with the Risk department to architect systems for real-time risk management, including margin engines (e.g., SPAN or VaR-based methodologies), automated collateral valuation haircuts, and multi-lateral netting and settlement engines.
- Define and maintain the data models for trade settlement, position management, and transaction reporting, ensuring high throughput, low latency, and strict data integrity across the clearing lifecycle.
- Oversee the development of clearing member services and portal functionality including integration of third-party platforms and vendors via FIX protocol, proprietary APIs, or enterprise message queues (e.g., Kafka).
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify new opportunities.
- Translate complex clearing business logic into highly technical functional specifications, including API services (REST/Websocket), state-machine diagrams, data schemas, and edge-case exception workflows for engineering implementation.
Customer Support
- Provide technical and product support to customers, collaborating closely with internal stakeholders.
- Ensure exceptional service delivery and issue resolution.
- Support the Operations team with customer technical onboarding, API conformance and customer connectivity.
- Undertake relationship management with key customers and vendors.
What you’ll bring
- Proven track record with 7+ years of product management experience in capital markets, with a proven track record of shipping core clearing infrastructure, clearing ledger systems, or high-throughput transaction processing engines."
- Deep technical understanding of the post-trade lifecycle for listed derivatives or binary events, including trade ingest, novation, position bookkeeping, assignment/exercise, and end-of-day settlement cycles., including Futures, Options, Swaps, or Binary Events.
- Familiarity with Futures Commission Merchants and their integration with DCMs and DCOs.
- Experience with digital assets and blockchains is a plus.
- Knowledge or experience with sports betting platforms, odds, or prediction markets is a plus.
- Hands-on experience defining requirements for customer reporting, regulatory reporting infrastructure (e.g., CFTC, SEC, or EMIR compliance) and auditing system logs for financial accuracy.
- Ability to query and analyze data independently using SQL or scripting languages (e.g., Python) to validate system behavior, investigate production anomalies, or write data-driven product requirements.
- Familiarity with modern software architecture patterns (microservices, event-driven architecture, distributed ledgers) and the ability to confidently debate technical trade-offs with Tech Leads and Architects.
Benefits & Compensation:
This position has a base salary of $175,000 to $200,000 per year, plus participation in a discretionary annual incentive bonus program.
