The team:

The Business Intelligence Analyst role will sit in the Operations Technology team within Operations, with responsibility for delivering analytics, reporting, and management information (MI) across all of Operations. The role will act as the lead for Operations on data and analytics initiatives, partnering closely with Technology teams, security and data protection functions, and business users across the department.

 

This is a hands-on role where you will design, build and maintain dashboards, data pipelines and reporting solutions, while also shaping governance and data quality practices. You will work with modern tooling such as Databricks and Power BI and play a critical role in embedding data-driven decision making into the heart of Operations.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop and maintain BI/MI dashboards and reports to support performance, control, and decision-making across Operations.
  • Partner with Technology teams to optimise and enhance data pipelines, data models, and analytical tools (Databricks, Power BI, SQL, Python and others).
  • Act as the primary point of contact for Operations on BI/MI topics, providing subject matter expertise and guidance on analytics best practice.
  • Champion and enable wider use of self-service analytics tools across Operations, while safeguarding data integrity and governance. The BI Analyst will act as the central authority for any formal or regulatory reporting, ensuring key outputs are reviewed, validated, and approved before use.
  • Lead on data governance and control activities within Operations, working closely with security, data protection, and compliance teams to ensure proper handling of sensitive data.
  • Define and monitor data quality metrics, implement validation checks, and ensure consistency of reporting across the business.
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications for BI solutions and ensure alignment with enterprise data strategy.
  • Automate manual reporting processes and drive efficiencies through innovative use of technology and analytics.
  • Produce clear documentation to support BI development, governance frameworks, and user training.
  • Present insights and analysis to senior management and stakeholders in a clear, compelling way that drives action.
  • Stay current with emerging BI/analytics technologies and propose improvements or new approaches.

 

Skills and experience required:

 

Required

  • Strong project management skills and the ability to multi-task effectively whilst monitoring deliverables and deadlines.
  • Proven experience in a BI, analytics, or data role (financial services background advantageous).
  • Strong technical skills in Power BI (or equivalent BI tools), SQL, Python and handling large datasets.
  • Familiarity with modern data platforms (Databricks, Azure, Snowflake or similar).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to turn raw data into actionable insights.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, both technical and non-technical.
  • Strong attention to detail and a structured approach to data governance.
  • Track record of automating manual reporting or processes to create efficiencies.
  • Understanding of data modelling and ETL/ELT processes.

 

Desirable

  • Knowledge of pensions, insurance or reinsurance markets.
  • Experience working with data security, GDPR, or regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Familiarity with other analytical programming languages and/or dbt
